Our college has good faculty members, average infrastructure, and excellent crowd and campus life.
Placements: Almost 70% of students are placed in this course. The highest salary package offered is 4 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies like L&T, Studio Mumbai, Sanjay Puri Architects, Studio Lotus, etc., visit our campus. Almost 70% of students got internships. Internships completely depend on your personal skills.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not up to the mark. Air-conditioners are not available in classrooms and drafting tables are very old. The hostel is good and well-furnished. Both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned rooms are available. Hot water and internet are available. Mess food is also very good. Both north Indian and south Indian food are available. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food are available. There are midnight canteens available in every hostel which are open till midnight.
Faculty: Faculty members are worth the fee you have paid. Most of them are IIT graduates or from other highly designated universities. This course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not so tough. If you are completely prepared, you can easily score above 75%. The pass percentage is 50%.

Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) - Batch of 2022

College life at this college is very good.
Placements: The architecture course doesn't have any placements, so you must search for placements on your own. The training and placement cell might help. Batchmates got placed in various firms all over the country. Depending on performance, few students who joined as interns continued as junior architects.
Infrastructure: We share the same hostels with multiple colleges on the MIT campus, but all hostels are well-constructed. They are lively, and there are several student centres. The college is currently a part of the engineering department's building, but it will be soon shifted to its dedicated building.
Faculty: The syllabus of 2014 is different from what is followed currently. Students are not that industry-ready, but it is not necessarily specific to MSAP. Most of the teachers are helpful.
Other: We have only one fest named Opus and a sports event named Seige. More importance is given to academics here.

Good infrastructure, no AC classrooms and some great faculty members every semester.
Placements: I'm not sure about the recruiting as a second-year student. They do mention a lot of placements and internship chances on their website and in their marketing campaigns. But I am not quite sure about this. As a first-year student, they had asked us to go for a summer internship of our choice and submit the necessary documents afterwards to prove the same.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is, in fact, great but it takes a lot of time to adhere to the path and accesses. The feeling intends to get higher every year. However, there is no AC facility in any of the classrooms except for the CAD labs. It is hard to survive during the summer.
Faculty: The majority faculty members are excellently hire with great communication skills and fair mindedness. The end semester exams are of a total 12 hours drawing/ drafting, 2 day viva and 2 day of theory written exam. The curriculum is great except for some of the faculty are not given beforehand information on what has already been taught and looked at.

Our college provides good faculty members and infrastructure.
Placements: Since it's an architecture college, students usually opt to work under other firms. But in Manipal School of Architecture and Planning, you get a good experience and also with great faculty members and seniors. It makes it easier. Most of the alumni have their firms in large cities while others work for big firms.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good. They are going to shift to another building after a few years. Hostels are very spacious and have all the facilities required, and hygienic food is served in the mess. The campus also has some public gathering places to enjoy nature.
Faculty: The course curriculum is as prescribed by the council of architecture. Faculty members are well experienced and have good knowledge about the work. Most of the faculty members are holding PhDs in their respective subjects and are highly knowledgeable. They have a vast idea about most of the topics.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in planning.

You have the key, do whatever you want with that.
Placements: There are no placements opportunities provided by the institution for architecture. However, students from our college have never failed to get into a good practice after college or during the course of the 1-year internship. Manipalites have a better chance of getting placed in practice in Bangalore due to its proximity to the college. There are students who try hard to get into cities like Mumbai or Ahmedabad, but the practices in these cities always give first preference to the students studying in the same city. But, this doesn't stop students from getting into top firms of India as there are alumni who are working for Pritzker award winner B V Doshi and highly famed architect Hafeez Contractor.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are 10m x 10m in size with a height of up to 7m. These working studios are large enough to offer convenient working spaces for every individual. Apart from that, there are AC seminar halls, jury halls and material laboratories. The architecture department is spacious enough to cater to every student's experimentation, and there are no restrictions as such. The whole building is a canvas to students.
Faculty: At the current stage of our college, there are many inexperienced faculty members and few experienced ones. Most of the experienced ones are pretty lazy and try to take up the shortest path method as many times as possible. The junior faculty are full of enthusiasm, but they lack the knowledge to cater to the current world of architecture. To make up with this, the institution (after plenty of experimentation with students, classes and curriculum) has a completely developed curriculum where learning happens at an enormous and zealous way as compared to our time.
Other: There is one fest conducted in every semester. One is a college fest by the title 'Opus', where architecture workshops are organised, and students take part in various interactive competitions ranging from essay writing to potpourri. The second fest 'Utsav', which is the university one, where all the institutions of Manipal compete against each other. Apart from that, there are sports competitions organised around the year.

Great infrastructure, satisfying teaching quality!
Placements: In the course of architecture, there are no placements as such. In the fifth year of your academics, you go for an internship (which is for the entire year). The college has tie ups with more than 200 firms and you apply to the ones of your choice and continue your 1 year internship with them thereafter. After getting your degree, you have to apply for jobs in different firms or start as an entrepreneur if you want your own firm right away. Architecture firms don't come to a college to hire employees. It does't work like the engineering courses.
Infrastructure: You get good quality drafting tables and good audio-visual systems in classrooms. Classes are big enough to accommodate 40 students (4 sections consisting 40 each). The only thing missing in classrooms are ACs, but its easy to get used to it as the rooms are comfortable enough. You get cold water facilities right next to the classrooms. Talking in a larger scale, Manipal has a great library right next to the architecture block, good sports facilities inside the campus and an excellent sports arena (called Marena), and free health check ups and referrals for manipal students with ambulance service in all hostels at KMC (the medical college of Manipal). Overall, campus hostels and facilities are above par level.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are very helpful, qualified, knowledgeable and most importantly (important for architecture students) approachable. Students have to go through an online faculty report at the end of every semester, scoring every faculty member of his/her class at different aspects. There are 4 teachers for 1 section in the main design subject (that's 1 teacher per 10 students), and it all the teachers give you their inputs into your work. You get good exposure into how the industry works through certain site visits, factory visits, lectures and seminars by guests, etc. Which really help in knowing how things work out.
Other: The campus is known as one of the best in India, and it truly is. The year is filled with fests, events, and the architecture department has its own fest as well. There are clubs which work on offering you international scholarships and internships as well.

Manipal School of Architecture and Planning
Admission FAQs

Q:   Can I get into Manipal School of Arch & Planning MDes with 70% in class 12th?

A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, Manipal School of Architecture and Planning has a great deal of history. It started in the year 1978 under Mysore University but within a few years came under Mangalore University in 1980. Since the year 2010 it has been part of Mahipal Academy of higher Education or MAHE in short.

Yes you can definitely get admission for undergraduate courses, in this Institute with just about 70% marks in your 12th examination. However for getting admission in Bachelor of architecture, a student has to pass an examination conducted nationally called NATA. As per the data available, to get admission into Manipal a student has to score above 120 in this examination. For getting admission into design there is no entrance exam whatsoever. MSAP is ranked quite high amongst its peers across the country. In fact the NIRF ranking of this institute is #6. It also has NAAC grading of A+. Both these facts make students flock to this institute in large numbers and as a result even though there is no entrance examination a student need to score quite high in 12th examination. Of course 70% marks that you are quoting is also quite good and it may be but I have good enough to get you admission.

Best wishes to you.
