Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for MBBS at Mysore Medical College And Research Institute?

    A:
    {Source: MBBS students & alumni}

    Course Curriculum

The course curriculum at Mysore Medical College And Research Institute for MBBS is structured according to the state government-prescribed syllabus, which may be considered outdated compared to modern medical practices.

    * Internal Examination: The college conducts internal examinations three times a year, with a professional exam at the end of each year.
    * CBME Curriculum: Since 2019, the college has been following the new Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum, which includes pre-clinical exposure, training, and seminars.
    * University Examinations: In addition to internal exams, the college conducts university exams, which are known to be challenging.

Overall, while the course curriculum may have some limitations, it seems to provide a solid foundation for students pursuing a career in medicine.

You will get satisfaction after getting admission. The college faculty is good.
Placements: Medical profession placement does not matter, so please focus on studying and get a seat. And you will get a good amount of clinical experience. You'll have a good curriculum, which will help you in your life. And you'll have good memories, so please take admission.
Infrastructure: Since it is an old college, the overall infrastructure is not as expected. The buildings are old and high-tech facilities are not there. But the minimum quality is there. Don't expect high-quality buildings. So for study purposes, it is good with the library, examination hall, and lecture halls.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified and teach very well and you have to study on your own to score high marks. You have only one final exam and you have to score fifty percent to qualify. So we have to study hard the first year, and then onwards you will get a grip on the subject.
Other: I am an MBBS student studying at Mysore Medical College. The college is good in clinical practice and the facility is also good so you get more experience in clinicals, but the infrastructure is not as expected. So overall, the rating is 4 out of 5.

It is a very good college for students.
Placements: All students got placed in good hospitals with a salary package of 18 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 25 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 8 LPA. They all got placements in top hospitals like Victoriya, KIMS, etc. We have to do a 1-year internship in the 5th year.
Infrastructure: Our college buildings are very old. They have been built by Mysore emperors. Our college is very good and has good environment. All departments have separate chambers. We have the best labs and classrooms. Our college hostel is very good. The food served in the hostel is good. All facilities are provided by the government.
Faculty: Each department has around 8-10 faculty members with high experience. They are MBBS, MS, and MD qualified. They teach us well. They are the best. Once we pass out from college, we get to choose to do what we want to be. Every year, RGUHS conducts final exams. They are very difficult. The pass percentage is 50%.
Other: It is one of the most prestigious colleges in India. There are around 150 students per batch. It is the oldest college. It is established in Karnataka. I opted for this course to become a doctor and to serve my village. The best thing about our course is that it saves a life. Our college should increase the government seats for financially weak students.

Top recruiting companies are KMC, Karnataka Medical Council, and NMC. Top roles offered are general physician and general surgeon.
Infrastructure: All classrooms have projector screens, air conditioners, fans, lights, and Wi-Fi. They are good and have a good atmosphere. Our college has 4 hostels which include 2 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels. They have good facilities. All hostels have an attached mess. The food served in every mess is very good. A playground is available in the hostel. There is a 24X7 hospital near our college.
Faculty: Our college has 19 departments, so each department has around 10-15 teachers. They are postgraduates. Our college follows the new CBME curriculum from 2019. It includes pre-clinical exposure, training, and seminars. We have 3 internal exams every year. The correction will be at the college level. We have university exams. They are conducted by our university. They are very difficult.
Other: I opted for this course because I want to become a doctor, and I want to treat people at low prices. Our college conducts 2 fests every year. Our college provides scholarships to students who score high performance in exams and are financialy weak.

I am not satisfied with the infrastructure of our college.
Placements: All students who pass out get an internship in KR Hospital which is a government hospital. The salary offered is Rs.30,000 per month. It is a rotation-based internship where students work under different departments for different months.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our hostel is average. Hostel rooms are not good. There are no proper restrooms available. The tiles come off. There is always mold on the walls. The paint on the walls keeps chipping and falls off. The quality of food served is not good. I don't eat in the hostel mess. Sports and games facilities are good. We have a ground where we can play football and cricket.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Some teachers are good while others are not inspiring. They don't make subjects interesting. We have to put our efforts to understand everything. The difficulty level of exams is average. Above 90% of students pass out every year.
Other: I opted for this course because I find medicine and the human body very interesting. Many students opt for their master's degree.

All these years in, still a very fine college to take admission in.
Placements: Placements in MBBS do not exist as such, however there is one year of compulsory internship under different postings in the attached KR hospital once your course is over. Moreover M.M.C. being a reputed college is certainly a very good addition to one's resume.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is as can be expected from a government college. Hostel facilities are enough to live comfortably. A room is shared by three, food is mainly South Indian and bathrooms are cleaned daily. College facilities are decent, with each subject having it's own lab. Bathrooms are present in the college for students to use. A big library and study hall is present with ample material for students.
Faculty: This is a very reputable college, hence the teachers are all knowledgeable and more than qualified to guide students. Moreover, KR hospital is huge and there is a large influx of patients everyday, giving a student a lot of exposure to clinical cases, which is the most important part of our field.
