Q:   Which has better placement at NIFT Gandhinagar, B.Des in fashion communication or B.Des in fashion design?

A:

At NIFT Gandhinagar, a B.Des in fashion design is better to a B.Des in fashion communication. Top firms like Amazon, Myntra, and Nykaa placed students pursuing a B.Des in fashion design. In fashion design, over 90% of students were placed in top firms; in fashion communication, 80% of students placed in top companies after completing their B.Des.

NIFT Gandhinagar offers a better B.Des in fashion design, but current trends indicate that the fashion industry is looking for more people with digital and communication skills. Depending on their unique demands, different organisations hire from various programmes. For more information on placement rates and organisations recruited for each programme, it is recommended to get in touch with the NIFT Gandhinagar placement department.

Q:   Can I get admission in NIFT Gandhinagar for B.Des with 60% in Class 12th?

A:

Admission to the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) for programs like B.Des is primarily based on the NIFT entrance exam rather than solely on 11th/12th marks.

Aspiring students must have completed a 10+2 board exam from a recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)/State Board in New Delhi, or the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) in New Delhi. Additionally, candidates can be considered if they have completed any Board/Public School/University Examination conducted in India or abroad, which is equivalent to the 10+2 system and is accorded recognition by the Association of Indian Universities.

The NIFT entrance exam evaluates candidates' design aptitude, creativity, and other relevant skills. So, your performance in this entrance exam is a crucial factor in determining admission to NIFT Gandhinagar for the B.Des program. I appreciate your understanding and clarification on the admission process.

Q:   Which one is better for B.Des, NIFT Gandhinagar or National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai?

A:

In comparison with NIFT Gandhinagar, the National Institute of Fashion Technology is thought to be better for B.Des students. Assuring a standard in design education, both colleges share the same NIFT curriculum. However, the faculty expertise or teaching approaches for specific specialisations may differ slightly. The instructors are both skilled and experienced. Depending on the college, some professors may be experts in particular fields.

With more guest lectures and internship opportunities available, Chennai has a modest advantage because it is close to important textile and apparel export firms. Both have strong placement histories, with graduates landing positions in respectable businesses. However, Chennai's close proximity to industry may provide it a small benefit. Due to the greater cost of living in the city, Chennai may provide slightly higher starting earnings on average, though actual pay will depend on individual success and the employer of choice.

Q:   Can I get B.Des at NIFT Gandhinagar with 75 percentile in NIFT Exam?

A:

The admission process at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) for the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme involves various factors, and the percentile alone may not be the sole criterion. Admissions are typically based on a combination of the NIFT entrance exam score, the situation test, and the interview.

Your percentile score of 75% in the NIFT Exam is a good starting point, but the final decision depends on the overall performance of all candidates, the number of available seats, and the cutoff set by NIFT Gandhinagar for that particular year.

To gain a clearer understanding of your chances, you should check the official cutoff scores released by NIFT Gandhinagar or contact the admission office directly. Additionally, keep in mind that admission criteria can vary from year to year, so it's essential to refer to the most recent information provided by the institute for accurate and up-to-date details on the admission process.

On Cutoff

Q:   What are the cutoff marks required for B.Des?

A:

A minimum of 50% is required to pass their qualifying exam. Cutoff scores for B.Des programmes vary throughout institutions and universities. In comparison to a smaller college, the cutoff will be substantially higher at a famous design institute like NIFT. The B.Des programme you're interested in may have different cutoff points. For instance, at the same university, Fashion Design can have a higher cutoff than Textile Design.

While some B.Des programmes use national exams such as UCEED or CEED, others have their own entry exams. The cutoff marks can be greatly impacted by the exam's difficulty level and scoring methodology. Numerous organisations hold seats aside for various groups, including PwD, SC, ST, and OBC. The cutoff marks for these categories may be lower than those for the general category.

It is average compared to other government design colleges, but far superior than the private ones.
Placements: Usually, people get good placements with a decent salary of around Rs.30000 - Rs.50000 per month. You also get many internship opportunities, especially after 3rd year, which trains you pretty well for the industry, and helps you build a strong portfolio.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is average with good architecture but not maintained. The hostel is available only for girls. The campus is big enough and has enough capacity to host good events. The only place the college lacks is the hostel facilities and there is always a rush to the mess.
Faculty: Faculty members and curriculum are good in our college. They provide lots of learning opportunities and good resources. We don't have exams, but rather project submissions which give us a more hands-on learning experience. Assignments also require extensive research and working with teams. So it's a pretty professional environment.

It is a good college with good faculty members, but low exposure and infrastructure.
Placements: Placements here are fine. Some students still struggle. Most faculty members focus on assignments and not learning. But it is up to the persons' creativity to achieve the roles they want. We have good resource centers. You will need to go to Ahmedabad more or less for every event.
Infrastructure: It has a low infrastructure and a good library. The mess is poor. We have an average hostel and its capacity is low. There are air-conditioned classrooms. Wi-Fi is available all over the college. The labs are well maintained. There is good sports maintenance. Basketball, volleyball. etc., are also available. Average medical facilities are provided. Hostels and PGs are available nearby.
Faculty: Our college has good faculty members and a curriculum. You can explore more yourself. The minimum attendance required is 75%. There are strict attendance rules. The college is good. We have average college life.
Other: Scholarships are provided on the financial background of the student. We have minimum events, clubs, and auditions. photography team, modeling team, social club, dance team, and singing team.

It is a hub of talented and accepting students.
Placements: Placements for FC in our college are good at least better than many private colleges. The highest salary package offered is around 12 LPA. The top recruiting companies vary vividly because students either sit for on-campus placements or apply off-campus, and it all depends on the connections students make over the years, so keep students' senses open and do not leave any opportunities that come in their way.
Infrastructure: It provides everything related to our course available in this college. It is for printing that students have to go to the nearby shopping place but its no big deal because the place is not that far. In other departments since my friends are there in FD and TD and AD, they face issues at times finding materials which they do not find near the college in Gandhinagar and have to travel to Ahmedabad. Our library is diverse and there are a lot of books regarding our course available. The food served in the canteen is good. Students also do not have classrooms but studios which is good. It provides a basketball court, a good photography laboratory, a badminton court, a very basic gym, and a counselor.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and helpful if students want to learn. The exams are submissions that students do in form of prints and presentations and actual model making at times. The pass percentage is 50% including mid-term, end term, and jury. The curriculum at times might not good, if students want to succeed, then they have to learn from everything and everyone around them seek talented people and learn, and students will love NIFT.
Other: I opted for this course, because of the pandemic a lot of events are pending and everyone has to think of everyone's safety before organising an event. But as much as I have heard from students it is fun.

Placements: Average package in 2017 was 4-5 lac CTC. And the highest was 11 lac but not sure. Lots of startup and big brands like arvinds, lifestyle, tanishq, pcj and naukari. Com comes in the placement. But there is a lot of competition for the placements lot of preference is given to students of the placement centre.
Infrastructure: Hostel facility is for girls is available but only for 1 st year of college. 2nd year onwards you have to search for accommodation outside the campus. Sport and cultural activities takes place pretty often. NIFT GANDHINAGAR's janmashtam's and Garba fest is really happening.
Faculty: Fashion Communication was introduced at our time. We were the first batch of FC gandhinagar. The branch is still building up. But still did well with the premiere batch but a lot of facilities regarding the department were missing. College has a lovely library called RC I. e Resource centre.

Q:   Which is the best entrance exam for BDes: NIFT Entrance Exam or UCEED?

A:
NIFT entrance examination is Institutional based examination which will only help you to get into NIFT whereas UCEED is a common Entrance Examination which is accepted by many design colleges and universities. So if you plan to get into only NIFT then you do have to give NIFT Entrance Exam but if you plan to apply in many universities then UCEED is a better option as you'll have many university choices and you can get admission on the basis of UCEED score.
