Q:   Is B.A. at Post Graduate Government College a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Based on student reviews and testimonials, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

Teaching Quality: Teaching quality is average, with both knowledgeable and inexperienced teachers. Some teachers are helpful and supportive, while others may not care about students' progress.

Placement Opportunities: Placement opportunities are limited, with only a few students getting placed annually. The average package is relatively low (around INR23 LPA), and companies visiting the campus are mostly local ones.

Campus Infrastructure: The campus infrastructure is average, with some classrooms lacking modern amenities. However, there are libraries, study rooms, and recreational spaces available.

Facilities: Facilities like food, laundry, and transportation are available, although feedback varies. The college canteen serves decent food, but the hostel food could improve.

Teacher Support: While teacher support is generally positive, some students mentioned that teachers may not be approachable or responsive.

Academics: Academics seem to be challenging, with semester exams testing students' knowledge and skills. However, some students praised the college's focus on preparing students for government exams.

Value for Money: Considering the limited placement opportunities and average infrastructure, the value for money might be questionable.

Overall, while B.A. at Post Graduate Government College has its strengths, such as supportive teachers and decent facilities, it falls short in terms of placement opportunities and infrastructure. Students who prioritize academic preparation and career development may find this course suitable. However, those seeking lucrative job prospects or state-of-the-art infrastructure might want to explore alternatives.

Note: This analysis is based on individual student perspectives and should not be considered as a definitive evaluation of the program.

    Course Curriculum

Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for B.A. students at Post Graduate Government College?

    A:
    {Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Successful Placement Cell for B.A. Students

Unfortunately, there is no dedicated placement cell for B.A. students at Post Graduate Government College. According to student reviews:

    * "Students usually prepare for government examinations, or they opt for higher education." (No mention of placements)
    * "Placements are not provided in our college. undergraduates are mainly provided" (No placement cell for B.A. students)

However, it's important to note that almost 80% of students are placed in multi-national companies like Wipro, Infosys, HDFC, and SBI through campus placements. Additionally, students receive internships from these companies, with an average package of INR7 Lacs per annum.

In summary, while there may not be a dedicated placement cell specifically for B.A. students, the college still offers opportunities for its students to secure jobs and internships through campus placements.

Satisfied because of the facilities and campus life.
Placements: At least 50% of the students were placed in my course and highest package offered is 50 lakhs and the lowest is of 15 lakhs. The top recruiting companies for my course are Wipro, Infosys, Reliance, etc. The percentage of students who got internships from my course is 30%.
Infrastructure: Facilities for my department contain Wi-Fi connectivity, computer labs, clean classrooms, and a library, which has a variety of books. The quality of facilities in my hostel are also pretty nice, and the food available in the mess is also hygienic and is made neatly. The medical facilities are also available; for that, there is a dispensary in college, and for games, there is a very big ground there; every child who is interested in games can go and participate.
Faculty: The college provides a huge number of faculty members who are very helpful and qualified, as well as very knowledgeable. The teaching quality of professors is in such a way that every student wants to attend the lecture whether he likes attending or not, but he wants to attend each and every class.
Other: I chose this college because I wanted to excel in this field for a job in the future. There are events, youth fests, and other extracurricular activities that help the students grow and enhance their skills.

Good faculty, infrastructure needs improvement; otherwise, it's a good college.
Placements: As I have a B.A., 30-40% of students were placed last year, whereas the average package is five lakhs, and the top recruiting companies are Frankfinn, Wipro, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Dell, and Amazon. The placement is not so good. The highest package was given by Amazon.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good but needs improvement. The library is well built, with all books available and a browsing system to find books easier. The canteen needs to be renovated. There is always a network issue in college. Wi-Fi is available at the hostel. There is also a medical room, but it is not fully equipped.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, well-experienced, qualified, and knowledgeable. They also provide notes from time to time. Yes, the curriculum is relevant and important for various competitive exams. The exams are not difficult; I have read last year's questions, and easy to moderate level questions are asked.

It's a good college for studies. Campus is good. But placements are not worth it.
Placements: Only some students got placed in the B.A. course. The companies are not verified by the college, and you have to do everything at your own risk. The average package of placement was very low, around 2–3 LPA. I am very grateful for my own placement in this course.
Infrastructure: The rooms of the girls hostel are average-looking. The average size, not many facilities, no Wi-Fi, and the and the library are pretty good, though. The quality of the food is worth the money. The canteen is nearby and provides tasty food that is mostly clean. Medical facilities are provided.
Faculty: The teaching quality is pretty average. Some teachers are very knowledgeable and have a unique teaching style; they care about students, whereas some teachers do not care about students and are rude. They don't even complete the syllabus before exams.

    I'm satisfied with this college.
Placements: Many placements are not provided in BA but are provided for IT and science students. Students need to work hard to get placements.
Infrastructure: The library is provided with good books, but the staff members are rude. A recreational park is available in our college. Wi-Fi is available on campus. Labs are good for IT and science students. Every department has specified teachers.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are good and highly qualified. The course curriculum is well-designed by Punjab University for the semester. There are assistant professors. The pass percentage is average.
Other: Our campus is average. Its infrastructure should be improved. Students are encouraged to participate in sports.

It is a decent college with good staff members.
Placements: Placements are average. Few students help in the betterment of this college with their innovative ideas.
Infrastructure: The facilities are not up to the mark. The food served in the mess is average. Canteen is available. Playground is small.
Faculty: Teachers are average. They are well-qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable. Few teachers are great, and they motivate us in all aspects. Semester exams are not hard. Our principal plays the lead role in maintaining discipline.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in it.

Really good faculty and facilities are available in the college.
Placements: The placements were not really good here. Don't expect anything big from here. They don't outreach to a wider range of companies. Don't really expect anything from our college’s placements cell. They provide a letter for OJT and you have to find a job on your own.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was okay. I am a BA Hons in Psychology student. Most of our classes have AC, good infrastructure, comfortable seats and a great environment. The teachers are nice and friendly. The canteen of our college is good. The food of the canteen is fresh and tasty.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are generally helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They have strong communication skills, empathy and a passion for teaching which creates an engaging environment and positive vibes for the students. The curriculum is still great. It does make the students industry ready. The semester exams in this college aren't really difficult because they prepare us very well before the semester exams. The pass percentage is above 33%.
Other: As an Honours student of Psychology, I find this subject very fascinating and helpful for others. The best thing about my course is the behavioral and experimental studies. However, it will be great if there are more practical and engaging lessons. Overall, the study quality is good. In our college many extracurricular activities are organized. They conduct drama, theatre, dance and other activities and they focus on sports as well. The students are prepared for inter-college competitions. They also won many prizes and take part in activities.
