Worth the Investment: An Honest Review of MBBS at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute

Here's what students and alumni have to say about whether pursuing MBBS at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute (SAVMP) is worth the investment:

    * Infrastructure: SAVMP boasts a modern infrastructure with 13-story buildings, classrooms, laboratories, and a library. While some students mention the age-old structure may need renovation, most agree that the facilities are overall good.

    * Teaching Quality: Teachers are described as experienced, knowledgeable, and supportive. Most come from reputed institutions like Bangalore Medical College, ensuring students receive excellent guidance.

    * Clinical Exposure: With three attached hospitals, students enjoy ample opportunities for hands-on learning and clinical exposure.

    * Placement Opportunities: As a government institution, SAVMP doesn't offer direct placements. However, students can opt for postgraduate programs like MD/MS, PLAB, USMLE, or government jobs after completing their undergraduate degree.

    * Student Life: Despite being a relatively new college, students appreciate the vibrant campus life, numerous events, and festivals organized throughout the year.

    * Facilities and Amenities: Students praise the availability of recreational spaces, including volleyballs and basketball courts, and unlimited Wi-Fi in the girls' hostel. Food quality in the mess is considered satisfactory.

    * Exams and Curriculum: Exams are moderately challenging, while the curriculum follows the Karnataka State RGUHS norms. Students generally find the programme well-rounded, covering theoretical and practical aspects.

In conclusion, while SAVMP faces limitations such as limited placements and aging infrastructure, its strengths lie in its faculty, clinical exposure, and student life. For those eager to serve others and willing to put effort into securing further education or employment opportunities, SAVMP might indeed be a worthwhile investment. However, potential students must carefully weigh these factors before making an informed decision.

I am highly satisfied with this college.
Placements: There are around 150 students in our batch. Around 85% of seats are filled through KEA, which is controlled by Karnat Government, and the rest 15% of seats are filled through AQI counseling. After completing UG studies in our college, there are no placements, but we have the assurance of job security in all government hospitals. We can continue our studies after internships and rural services. We are the second batch of this college,
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is old. Our campus is located in the heart of the city. There is no transportation problem. Security is average on campus. Our college has the best building in Karnataka, which is newly constructed. Everything is new in our college. Mess is better, and hostels are maintained well. Our college does not have a playground.
Faculty: Teachers are very friendly and helpful. Our course curriculum is decided by RGUHS board in Karnataka under NMC guidelines, which are completely work-oriented. Semester exams are difficult. If we study properly, we can score good marks. Our college has good results, with 101 distinctions.
Other: I chose this course with the perspective of serving the people, and the best thing is that we get to meet different people. Our college should reduce the study load. Our college is new, and there are few co-curricular activities.
