SRM Kattankulathur Dental College hosts the National workshop on AI in Dentistry

August 12 2024: The Department of Public Health Dentistry at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital recently organized a successful two-day national workshop on "Artificial Intelligence in Dentistry." Funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), the workshop was held at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, and attracted a diverse group of dental professionals, researchers, and students.

The event was honoured by the presence of Dr L. Swasticharan, Additional Deputy Director General of Health Services & Director (EMR) at the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, who served as the Chief Guest. Dr M. B. Aswath Narayanan, Professor and Head at Tamil Nadu Government Dental College & Hospital, was the Guest of Honour.

The event featured an esteemed panel of experts from leading institutions, including the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, AIIMS New Delhi, Google LLC USA, and Anna University, Chennai. These distinguished speakers shared their research findings, real-world applications, and future perspectives on AI's role in dental practice.

Present at the occasion were SRMIST’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Medical) Lt. Col. (Dr) A. Ravi Kumar, Dean Medical Dr Nitin M. Nagarkar, Dean Engineering & Technology Dr Gopal T.V., Dean Dental Dr N. Vivek, Vice Principal Dr Magesh K.T., and Organising Chairman Dr Sibyl Siluvai.

The workshop was a resounding success, offering a comprehensive understanding of the current and future landscape of AI in dentistry. The event highlighted SRM Kattankulathur Dental College's dedication to advancing dental practice through innovative technologies. 

SRM Bags Best Outreach Programme Award

April 23, 2021: The Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry has awarded SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital with the ‘Best outreach service award'. The college was honoured with the U Sumithra & Ramanath Bhat - Best outreach program award for its outstanding outreach activity.

For the months of April 2019 to March 2020, the SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital's department of Public Health Dentistry competed in this division. The event which made its entry in this category was the “World Health Day” which was celebrated recently on April 7.

This event was organised by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, with doctors and interns focusing on delivering oral health literacy programmes to various age groups in accordance with WHO guidelines.

SRM Kattankulathur Dental College & Hospital Successfully Cures Infant with Cleft Palate Issue

July 28, 2020: Under the leadership of HOD Dr Vidyashee from the Department of Prosthodontics and Implantology at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital, a team of doctors performed treatment for Cleft Palate on one-month-old baby girl. Cleft Palate is a normal congenital defect in the Orofacial region. Patients with this are unable to cough, speak, and also have ear and dental issues. Cleft is usually seen in consanguineous marriages.

SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital is one of the few colleges in India that have been recognised and equipped for the treatment of infantile cleft lip and palate. Physicians in the hospital are experienced and skilled in the treatment of these diseases. It involves measuring the mouth with a semi-fluid material and inserting a feeding plate into the baby’s mouth through which she could swallow immediately. The surgery was successful.

Excellent infrastructure, friendly staff, and amazing environment.

Placements: The course offers good placement opportunities. About 80% of students are placed in good companies and about 80-90% of students got internship from our course. Each year more than 700 companies visit our university to hire students.

Placements: We have the effective one year practice section in our college during 5th year that helps in our placement. So we have a excellent and secured life in SRM. College provide all the possible way to build up our students career. We can also get influence from most of the admiring doctors.

Good infrastructure and placements.

Placements: It is too good for placements in top recruitments and a good career for everyone. More than 95% students have been placed from our college this year. The scope is good in this college. In our college, the fee structure is low. The Free Wi-Fi is everywhere and good.

Satisfied because of good teaching infrastructure, work, course.

Placements: Everything is good and all the students who are passing out get jobs easily. They start their clinics and stand on their legs. Foreign opportunities are also available for BDS students. They are also becoming tutors or lecturers.

Placements: Students from our colleges have got offers in various dental clinics and hospitals. We get jobs like clinic head, junior consultants and a clinic manager. We usually get our internships in our college, which is mandatory, and we can do our internship in various medical and dental colleges.

Review of SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital University Main Campus.

Placements: In our college, almost 80-85% of students cleared the entrance exam and were placed. The highest salary package offered was 14 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. The average salary package offered was 7 LPA to 8 LPA. Top recruiting organisations like AIIMS, etc., visited our campus. Almost 9% of students got internships at SRM Hospital.
