B.Sc. in Zoology - Batch of 2028

Good infrastructure and campus.
Placements: The course I'm studying doesn't give any placements, but it offers internships starting in the second year. The new FYUGP demands that from second year onwards there will be internships for students. The top role offered in my course will be research.
Infrastructure: SMC Cherthala doesn't have a boys hostel. The college is situated on 16 acres of land, and it has most of the facilities a college should have. The college has one of the largest grounds in the district. The library is big, and there's a moderately big canteen too. There's a shooting range on the college campus. The labs are big and fully equipped. There's an abundance of classrooms in the college.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified professionals, and they're great at teaching. They're humble, and if you have a doubt and you ask them, they'll definitely clear your doubts. The courses difficult are easy to moderate, and we only have about 20% of the previous batch syllabus. The overall number of subjects has increased by 1 (total of 6 papers), but the difficult ones stay on the moderate level. The intent to make the course a four-year one was to make the kids industry ready, and from this year onwards the curriculum is more practical-based.
Other: Maybe because we're the first batch of the new FYUGP (four-year undergraduate program), the number of students is comparatively less.

Our college provides good faculty members.
Placements: Students get good placements in good IT companies if they have a good pass percentage. Internships are provided in the fourth semester in an IT company in which students get to learn a programming language with certification.
Infrastructure: Mess is not available but has a canteen. Our campus is very good. Lab is available in every department for both aided and non-aided courses. Women's hostel is provided in our college. NCC and NSS are available.
Faculty: Exams are good if students study well and attend classes regularly. Teachers help students to achieve good marks. Exams are conducted in our college, and lab exams are conducted in our department. The pass percentage is 60-70%. They arrange motivational classes to motivate students for the future. Tutors clear the doubts of the students.
Other: Events are organised in our college but can be improved. Placements should be improved. Our college offers add-on courses like Python, flutter, etc.

Satisfied with the faculty, but it lacks infrastructure and campus programs.
Placements: There are no students in college. 9000–60000 is the package offered here. No other companies are for recruiting students. Only a few local companies offer internships. CA, ACCA manager, PG, MBA, and CMA USA are some of the top roles offered by my course.
Infrastructure: Good physics, chemistry and biology labs are there and there is a not-very-good computer lab too. Average classrooms, bad toilets, a very good football field, and a 400-meter athletic track are around. A well-maintained, air-conditioned seminar hall and an auditorium with a capacity of 1000 people are available.
Faculty: Very good and experienced teachers and other faculty. Effective and good way of teaching. The curriculum is not very good but it is helpful in some ways. The difficulty in exams ranges different every time; most times, it's difficult and hard to pass. The pass percentage is between 50 and 70%.
Other: I chose this course to lay the foundation on my future career. It has a wide scope. Some more practical knowledge on things, industrial visits, etc. can help in improving the course. Some events happen in college like annual day, sports days, union days, etc.

BBA in Logistics - Batch of 2024
3.8

Really good infrastructure and teaching, best for sports enthusiasts.
Placements: I have 89% in 12th and I got BBA Logistics in SMC
since the course was introduced just 2 years back, the first batch isn't passed out, they are studying 3rd year. We don't have internship programme in our college for this course. Logistics coordinator and supply chain manager are top roles offered for logistics graduates. I would prefer to pursue an MBA after graduation, other you will stuck in the bottom level of the industry. Top companies recruiting BBA / B.Com Logistics graduates include M.Sc. SHIPPING, Amazon & Flipkart etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of SMC is nice & there is a big ground for practising sports and also a shooting range, which is also accessible to public (rifle club members). We have Wi-Fi in our college office, not for students. Classrooms are good enough and most of them are very old as the college is started almost 6 decades ago. And we have a Christian management there so there is also a prayer hall at the entrance. We have a double floor Library and is quite place to read books, it has a huge number of books varying from comic novels to research level guide. Finally sports, SMC is famous it's sports encouraging nature, almost all district level competitions take place in our college. And there few students in our class who got admission in sport quota.
Faculty: Teachers and very helpful and well qualified, they also share information apart from academic syllabus, like which course is best after this, which college should we go for best placements, how to study a particular subject on exam basis etc. Yes, the curriculum is relevant, but I don't think it only makes the students ready for the industry. Proper training or internship is essential before getting into an industry, especial in a field like logistics. SMC is providing good training for B.Voc students. Semester exams aren't cake walk as the college is affiliated to Kerala University. But the Pass percentage is high & we can focus on our studies as there is no politics or other distractions in our college.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to do BBA (in any stream), but now I have heard about scope of logistics industry and I'm thinking of doing MBA after graduation. The best thing about this course is it is a globally booming industry and the jobs opportunities after graduation are pretty high. The improvement I would suggest is to provide internship programme in final semester. SMC is not providing that part of campus life, which is full of celebration and events. There are numerous extra curricular activities, about 24 clubs, NSS & NCC etc. Scholarships are provided as per the government rules. Surroundingsbare nice, the college situated at the side of National Highway -44. Campus is nice & has a store room for stationary items, canteen, library and few places to spend time with friends.

B.A. in Economics - Batch of 2025
4.4

St. michaels the heaven in earth.
Placements: There are 57 students in our class. Its a government college and a merit admission there. But the management seat cost around 30000. the are many companies that comes to recruit in oru college like federal Bank and some other banks.50%of students go internship from our course in federal bank. Manager and sometimes becoming a teacher is also an option for B.A. economics.
Infrastructure: Eventhough I donot stay in the hostel some of my friends stay at the hostel. They say the michaels hostal is good compared to the hostel they stayed when they were at old hostel back in plus 2 and also they said the food is also good. If I had to rate the hostel out of 10 I would give it 7. they also provide good medical facilities there.
Faculty: The teachers who are teaching at michaels are when educated and experienced all the topics which they taught us are remembered correctly. The course curriculum is relevant it make the study more knowledgeable. The semester exam were not that difficult the question were so simple I could get the pass mark so easily. We had to score 40 percentage in order to pass the exam.
Other: I have chosen B.A. economics for just getting a degree Certificate. Our college has Maths in B.A. economics so its one of the best thing about economics. The thing that need to improve is that we need more field trip so as to experience everything from the real aspect. All the event happened in our college were the best eventhough iam only a first year I have experienced many wonderful thing in my college. The union day is also coming up I hope it will also be as good as other events.
