Q:   What is the selection process for B.Des and what is the minimum NIFT Exam score required?

A:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) B.Des selection process includes an entrance exam followed by a merit-based admission process. The NIFT Admissions Test is an important step for candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program. There is no fixed cut-off rank for the minimum NIFT exam score required for NIFT admission. The required rank depends on a variety of factors, including course, category, and the candidate's preferred campus. In general, the lower the rank, the greater the likelihood of admission to the desired programme and campus. However, a score of at least 100 out of 150 is often considered a safe bet to gain admission to NIFT's top-tier institutions. To be eligible for admission to the B.Des program, candidates must have passed a 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised institution and have taken physics and mathematics as subjects. The maximum age for admission must be less than 24 years as of August 1 of the year of admission. The NIFT cutoff for the B.Des programme will vary each year depending on the number of applicants, the difficulty of the exam, and the availability of seats. Cutoffs are announced separately for each course (B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des, M.F.Tech, MFM) and indicate the minimum rank or score required for admission. The expected cut-off for B.Des in Fashion Design is 100 points and 800 points for Textile Design.

B.Des. in Animation and Game Design - Batch of 2020

The campus had good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Placements were just started from the year I enrolled and many good companies showed up for campus placements. Your overall performance matters alot for the placement. Rest, they don't assure your placements but the company comes to hire you. Do visit the campus before you enroll.
Infrastructure: The campus and hostel were amazing. It was made beautifully and everything is built fresh. It was a beautiful and huge campus. The food served in the mess was also good and I still miss the mess food. Every day, you get good food, sometimes it's bad but mostly good. Air-conditioners were also available in the hostel. The campus had every facility and every lab that a student needed.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were highly qualified and they were very knowledgeable. The software has to be learned by self but the basics are taught. The faculty understands you and treats you well. Attendance is must otherwise it can create problem for you. Do visit the campus once.
Other: Not many students are there in the college but teachers are amazing. Fest, activities and everything is available on campus.

Really good infrastructure and facilities with good faculty support.
Placements: 85% of students were placed in our course, average package offered in course was 5 LPA (approximately). There are many recruiters like lopez design, wipro, delivery, paytm, etc. Top roles offered are: ux designer, assistant designer, cheif designer. 80% students got internship in companies like woodland, lopez design studio and local companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities offered are fully free Wi-Fi campus, spacious hostel rooms with twin sharing, good quality food with wide range of dishes, medicine room available and 24 hour first aid available with warden. A good canteen with big menu and great taste. A big ground for football and cricket and also the college has indoor games like table tennis and carrom.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful and supportive, they are minimum M.Des qualified. Teaching quality is good and the course curriculum is relevant for good learning and makes students industry ready. Semester exams are on learning basis and the pass percentage is 99.
Other: I chose this course as I was having great interest at graphic design. Things that are best in course are faculty members and practical learning. I wish course could have been better if there was 3d software included. College has a yearly cultural fest called Cult. College is at good location at rajiv gandhi education city and have access to all facilities. College is great at extracurricular activities.

Good Course, but dull college.
Placements: For Animation and Game Design, in recent years, the top recruiters have been Rockstar India and Ubisoft India. There are various roles offered, from 3D modeler to generalist to rigging artist and animator (all junior levels or interns). The highest package that I know of is 14 LPA (outside Animation and Game Design).
Infrastructure: The university is of humble size. Almost all classes are air-conditioned, with proper generator backup. Animation and Game Design has fairly up-to-date systems (RTX 3070ti, some Ryzen CPUs) with Wi-Fi available. It's a little slow, but it does the job. Hostel infrastructure is good; there is an elevator, and the rooms are air-conditioned during summers and heated during winters. There is a geyser available, but mess food is dull, and no non-veg is available. Basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts are available, and also a football ground (not full size).
Faculty: The concerned faculty members for Animation and Game Design are probably some of the better faculty members in our university. They are well-versed in industry requirements and standards. The curriculum covers almost everything when it comes to the production pipeline for a video game, starting from basic modeling to fully fleshed-out rigged characters.

The infrastructure is good, and I guess placements are not much great.
Placements: More than 50% of the students can get placed from our course. The highest salary package offered in our course was 6 LPA, and the lowest salary offered starts from Rs. 5,000 per month. Asian Paints is the top recruiting company for our course. I am in my first year, so I don't know about the percentage of students who got internships from our course. Top roles offered in our course are interior and spatial designer, lighting designer and visual merchandiser.
Infrastructure: I never visited the college until now due to a pandemic. However, I saw some photos and some feedback about our college, and I came to know that the infrastructure is good. But there is less workshop area in our college. I don't know about the facilities provided in hostels. Quality food is served in the mess and canteen.
Faculty: Few faculty members are good here. Teachers are not helpful at all in this time of the pandemic, and they are still focused on assignments only rather than on learning. There is a shortage of stationery, but they are still forcing us to buy them from outside and watch things around us for assignments, which is not possible at this time. So, they might teach first-year students. First-year is a foundation year, and I don't know anything related to my course.

Faculty is very good, infrastructure is average and curriculum is also good.
Placements: The average package offered from the college placement is 4.70 lacs, and the highest package offered was 24 lacs as per year 2022. The companies like Rockstar and Ikarus 3D have been here for placements. The 100% students get internships, from which 75% get paid internships.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi of the college and hostel is very bad sometimes and sometimes average also. The overall infrastructure of the college isn't that good; it can be said to be average infrastructure. In the hostel, you will get attached washrooms; everyday room cleaning services and mess are also available. The quality of mess food is also average. There are medical facilities available in college, and many other sports facilities are also available, like a volleyball court, football ground, basketball court, tennis court, table tennis court, and badminton court.
Faculty: The faculty of the college is very good; they are highly skilled and qualified. Many of the faculty are from the NID. One of the strongest points of the college is there curriculum; they not only teach you game art but also they will teach you game design. If you want to learn yourself and you are skilled, then the exam would not be that difficult for you, but it doesn't mean that you leave the responsibility of your marks and future in college. If you are a self-learner and give efforts from your side, then you will clear the exam.
Other: I chose this course because I was interested and have a great enthusiasm towards the gaming industry, and this college's best course is animation and game design; it can be the best college for this course. There is a foundation course of 1 year; if it weren't here, then it would be the 3 year course, and the foundation course also, I don't think, is that much necessary. Many fests get organized in the college; one of the biggest festivals of the college is The Cult. In this fest, many types of performances were done by the students from different categories. And there are total 14 clubs also in the college for western dance (9 Rangreza), caravan for music, ink well club for literary, sports club is also here, and many more.

A place to start your design journey.
Placements: I'm an animation game design student currently in my 2nd year; internships and placements are offered in my 3rd and 4th years. I have heard about companies like Rock Star, Ikarus 3D, Amazon Game Studios, etc. coming to our college and many more game development studios. Looking over the lucrative game industry In India, good jobs are hard to find and at the end of the day, it all depends on your portfolio. The college is trying their best to bring companies on campus but if one's portfolio isn't strong, he ain't going to get any jobs.
Infrastructure: World University has a campus size of approximately 12 acres, which is quite good for an only-design university. Specifically, for animation game design, we have pretty high-end labs with Rtx-enabled PCs and an x-pen tab for each student; even ARVR technology is provided. Talking about hostels, both boys and girls hostels have three sharing rooms equipped with air conditioning. Private washrooms are there in each room.
Faculty: Overall, the curriculum is set up in such a way that we are ready to work in industry. Most of the faculty members are from NID or IIT and are quite experienced. We don't have exams where we have to write big answers; we have juries and practical exams, which make much more sense as we are in design.
