Q:   How many B.Des seats are offered by the participating institutes of UCEED 2024?

A:

There are SIX participating institutes of UCEED 2024.

IIT Roorkee has newly joined the list of UCEED 2024 participating colleges.

These participating institutes offer a combined intake of 225 (up from 205 seats in the previous edition) seats for the B. Des programme. Admission to the B. Des programme will be based on UCEED 2024 merit. Of the five participating institutes, IIT Jabalpur has the highest intake at 66 seats. Meanwhile, IIT Bombay, which is the most sought after college has an intake of 37 seats. Note that the seat intake has been divided into various categories like Open, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwD.

Q:   What are NIFT Score accepting colleges other than participating colleges?

A:

Note that there are 18 NIFTs that will accept NIFT 2025 scores for admission purposes. These institutes are known as participating colleges.

However, in addition to the participating colleges, there are other private colleges that will also consider NIFT 2025 scores for admission to their UG and PG design courses.

One major difference is these institutes will not participate in the counseling process conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Further, these institutes may also accept scores of other popular entrance exams like NID, UCEED, etc.

Q:   What are the participating institutes of NID for the B. Des programme?

A:

There are five participating institutes of NID DAT exam that offer the B.Des program.

These include: NID Ahmedabad NID Andhra Pradesh NID Haryana NID Madhya Pradesh NID Assam.

The seat intake for the B. Des stands at 425. Among the participating institutes, NID Ahmedabad has an intake of 125 seats, while the rest of the NIDs each has an intake of 75 seats. Note that seats are reserved for categories like General-EWS, OBC, SC, and ST categories.

Admission to these seats will be on the basis of NID DAT scores.

Note that the next edition of the NID DAT exam, or NID DAT 2025, will be conducted tentatively in December 2024.

The application form is expected to commence in September 2024.

For instance, the NIFTs conduct the NIFT entrance exam, while the NIDs have the NID DAT entrance exam.

The format of the entrance exam may vary.

The NIFT entrance exam is conducted in two stages - 1) Stage 1 includes the written exams - the creative ability test (CAT) and the general ability test (GAT), followed by 2) Stage 2, which includes a Situation Test.

The final result for NIFT will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

On the other hand, the NID entrance exam includes DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. The final result will be prepared by giving weightage to both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

Q:   What is the reservation process for the NIFT entrance exam?

A:

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFTs) will follow the following reservation criteria:

The candidate has to select their category of admission at the time of filling out the application form and attach supporting documents. The admission officials will verify all relevant documents at the time of counseling.

Note that if the candidate fails in the verification process, he or she will be considered for admission under the open category. 

Q:   Do the participating colleges of UCEED 2024 offer M.Des programme?

A:
Candidates may note that admission to the M.Des programme will be through the CEED 2024 exam, which is also conducted by IIT Bombay. There are 8 participating institute of CEED 2024. These are: IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Jodhpur. Note that IIT Bombay will not conduct any Joint Seat Allotment process for CEED 2024 participating colleges. Instead, the candidate has to apply directly to the participating institute on the basis of the CEED 2024 merit rank.

Q:   How many NIFTs participate in the NIFT entrance exam?

A:

A total of 18 National Institutes of Fashion Technologies will participate in the NIFT 2024 admission process. The participating institutes offer B. Des, M.Des B.FTech M.FTech and MFM courses. Admission to these courses offered by these institutes will be based on NIFT 2023 scores. The participating institutes of NIFT 2024 offer a combined intake of 5,215 seats. Of these, 4324 are All-India, 424 are state domicile, and 467 seats are reserved for NRI candidates.

Q:   What are the design courses that will be offered through NID DAT 2025 exam?

A:

The NIDs offer a full-time B.Des programme of 4-year duration, and a full-time M.Des programme of two-and-half years duration. 

The institute, in addition, also offers a PhD program. The programme can be pursed full-time or part-time. 

Admission to the design courses at the NID is conducted through a Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The exam comprise DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The final result or merit list is prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

Q:   How to get admission to B. Des and M.Des courses at the National Institutes of Design?

A:

Aspirants can secure admission to B. Des and M.Des courses offered at NID campuses on the basis of NID DAT 2025 merit rank. Note that merit ranks will be issued to the candidate only if he or she appears in both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. The candidate has to first appear in DAT Prelims. Shortlisted candidates have to next appear in DAT Mains. The final result or merit list will be prepared by considering the weighted scores of DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

The National Institute of Design will allow B.Des candidates to enter their campus preferences once final results are out. The seat allotment will be done based on campus option opted, seat intake, and merit rank of candidate.

In case of M.Des admission, the candidate is not required to enter campus preferences.

The syllabus for the graphic design program will vary depending on the course opted by the candidate and also the college.
