Difficulty Level of NIFT CAT & GAT 2018
Nishtha, who wishes to secure admission in BDes Fashion Communication at NIFT shared, “My paper went really good. Both GAT and CAT papers of the exam were very easy. In GAT there were five sections – English Comprehension, Grammar, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and GK. Since I am average in Maths, I found questions of this section little difficult. Questions of all other sections in GAT paper were easy. I could easily solve all the questions. In CAT there were three questions, which were very common and easy. I could easily do them.”
Arpita, who wants to get admission in BFTech or BDes programme also said that the exam was very easy. She revealed, “If well prepared, one can clear the exam easily. I was taking coaching for NIFT exam for a long time. I am confident that I will crack it.” Further speaking about GAT and CAT papers, she added, “I found CAT paper to be very easy. In the first one and a half hours, I created rough drafts for all the three questions. Then in the last one and a half hours, I gave final touches to my sketches. In GAT, I found some questions confusing but overall, it was easy.”
Holding contrary views to Nishtha and Arpita, Gaurav who gave the exam in Patna to secure admission in BDes programme felt that the exam was of moderate difficulty level. He said, “I found the exam neither difficult nor easy. But my exam went good. I am confident that I will clear it.” Talking about the paper-wise difficulty of the exam, Gaurav shared, “In GAT, I found English passages to be little difficult. Rest all other sections went good. I finished my GAT paper 10 minutes before the exam time ended. In CAT, third question was difficult as well as confusing but I did it based on my understanding of the question.”
Anushriya gave the exam for MDes admissions at NIFT. She revealed, “NIFT Entrance Exam 2018 for PG courses was of moderate difficulty level. Of both the papers, CAT was easy but GAT was difficult and extremely lengthy.” Elaborating on the difficulty level of GAT paper, Anushriya said, “In GAT, questions on Non-Verbal and Logical Reasoning were easy. But I found GK and English questions difficult. In GK, there were very less questions on current affairs. And, current affairs that came in the paper were very latest - about one month old. So I found them difficult to do. In English Comprehension, a total of six passages came in the paper. Three passages were easy but three were really lengthy and difficult. The passages consumed most of my time. However, rest of the English questions were easy. Quantitative Ability section of GAT paper was also difficult.” Anushriya further spoke about CAT difficulty and said, “Cat section required a lot of writing. In first question, we had to explain our sensory experiences in 10 steps. In second question, we had to design a chair based on our personality trait. After that we also had to describe the chair in 250 words. It was just the third question that required only drawing.”
