The Innovators! What’s the right career for you?

Innovators are explorers who challenge the status quo by looking for ways to enhance the world around them.
Are you someone who likes to come up with ideas? Do you look for new ways of doing things? Do you find it exciting to solve a problem? Do you get bored of doing the same thing repeatedly? If any these apply to you, you are mostly likely an INNOVATOR. Someone who likes to think outside the box, bend the rules and tackle problems in their own unique way. Careers that allow you work on and build new concepts and ideas are the ones that would inspire you the most.
Let’s take a deeper look at the Innovator Profile. Innovators, as the name suggests are explorers who challenge the status quo by looking for ways to enhance and transform the world around them. They like to make their own rules, do things their own way and thrive in environments that encourage fresh ideas and innovation without restrictions on ways of working.
How to identify if you are an Innovator:
- Do you get bored of following routine or doing the same thing?
- Are the person people rely on to come up with new ideas to things?
- Are you someone who likes flexibility when it comes to completing tasks?
- Do you spend a lot of time thinking about how the world will be in the future?
If you have answered YES, to more than two of the above questions, you are most likely someone with high INNOVATOR traits. Once you know your overall profile is an ‘Innovator’, then the next step is to understand the Innovator Career Strengths. Each Career requires a combination of Career Strengths to succeed in it. These Strengths come from your personality, aptitude, motivations and interests. For Innovators, the Career Strengths are Design, Research and Developmental.
From these Career Strengths emerge the relevant Career Families, Career Roles, Courses & Colleges. Career Families within the Innovator Profile are usually a combination of one or more of these three Career Strengths. For examples, Planning & Architecture is an Innovator Career that requires high Design and Developmental Career Strength and Pure Science & Research is an Innovator Career that requires high Research and Developmental Career Strength.
The Design Career Strength relates to fields that focus on creative expression of ideas through writing, visualisation, planning and design. Those who have a high Design Career Strength could be inclined towards careers in Digital Design, Animation along with Arts & Literary fields like Content Writing, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design among others.
The Research Career Strength relates to fields that require extensive knowledge and research capability for a specialised field. It involves a lot of reading, analysis and in-depth subject matter expertise. Those who have high Research Career Strength can have successful careers in Pure Sciences – which relates to in-dept study of subject such as
Physics, Chemistry, Astrophysics, Mathematics and Biochemistry among several others.
They could also be inclined to specialise in Social Science subjects such as Anthropology, Psychology, History, Economics, Political Science among others.
The Developmental Career Strength relates to fields where that focus is on the big picture and doing things differently. This requires considerable thinking and modelling. Those who have high Developmental Career Strength could be inclined towards careers related to Planning & Architecture, Policy Making, Software Development among others.
Some famous Innovators include scientist Albert Einstein, well-known entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer, Walt Disney and Economist and Revolutionary Socialist, Karl Marx.
While Innovator traits may resonate with you, each individual is a unique combination of the four profiles of Builder, Communicator, Innovator and Enabler. By understanding your overall profile based on your unique personal combination of Behaviours, Aptitude, Motivations & Interests, one can remove the guesswork and choose a career that is best suited to your individual personality.
