NIFT Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for all the NIFT campuses for each programme is similar. A brief about the same is given below:

For Bachelor’s Programme (B.Des & B.FTech)

Check the age-wise and education-wise criteria for the undergraduate programmes:

Qualifying Age:

  • As of August 1st of the admission year, the applicant's maximum age must be less than 24 years old.

  • For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories, the upper age limit may be relaxed by 5 (five) years.

Education Qualification:

For BDes Programme:

  • Any approved Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board of New Delhi, and the Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi, at the +2 level in the 10+2 pattern of examination.

  • A passing grade in the National Open School's Senior Secondary School Examination in a minimum of five subjects or

  • AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education-recognized 3- or 4-year diploma

  • Any public school/board/university examination approved by the Association of Indian Universities as similar to the 10+2 system in India or abroad.

  • Advanced (A) level General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka)/ International Baccalaureate (IB)

For B.Ftech Programme:

  • The 10+2 level examination of any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, and the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, Delhi, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics

  • A 3 or 4-year diploma in any engineering branch approved by the AICTE or a state board of technical education.or

  • A passing grade in the National Open School's Senior Secondary School Examination with a minimum of five subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; or

  • Any public school/board/university examination in India or abroad that the Association of Indian Universities recognises as equivalent to the 10+2 system, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

For Master’s Programme (MDes, MFM and M.FTech)

Educational Qualification

For M.Des (Master of Design)

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline from an Indian institute or university recognised by law.

  • A three-year undergraduate diploma from NIFT / NID is required.

Note: M.Des is an advanced course that requires knowledge of design foundations and assumes that candidates are familiar with basic skills and theories in order to complete the programme. As part of its Master's degree, the course would not teach any basic information or skill development in design.

For Master’s Programme in Fashion Management- M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management)

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline from an Indian institute or university recognised by law.

  • An undergraduate degree from NIFT / NID that is at least three years long.

For Master’s Programme in Fashion Technology- M.FTech (Master of Fashion Technology)

  • B.FTech. from any NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) campus or

  • BE / Btech degree. from any Institute/ University recognized by law in India
