CEED 2015: How to apply for the exam

CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is a qualifying examination for admissions to Master of Design (M.Des.) programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Kanpur, and PhD programmes in Design at some Institutes. The registrations for the exam commenced on August 4 and will continue till September 1, 2014. Check out the other important dates for CEED 2015 at shiksha.com.

The exam, which is scheduled to be conducted on December 7, 2014, will be held in two parts - A & B and aspirants taking the exam should answer both the parts. The exam will be held at around 14 test centers across the country. Know more about CEED 2015 exam pattern & test centres here.

To register for the programme, students need to follow a three-step procedure given below:

Application Procedure:

Step 1 : Registration

1. Every aspirant must first register online before proceeding to fill the application form. They can do this by clicking this link on the CEED website.
2. While registering, you must provide a valid email address and an active mobile number since the CEED office will use these contacts for all the future communications to the candidates.
3. Once the registration process is completed, students will receive an email on the registered email address with a link for validating the email address (in case one does not find the email in the Inbox, please check the Junk/SPAM folder). A password will also be sent to the registered mobile number which has to be used for completing the registration process. In case, if you provided a wrong email address and/or mobile number, then you need to register afresh with the correct details.
4. Do not delete the email sent to you. This can be used for future reference.
5. When you click on the emailed link, you will be provided with a login screen, where you have to enter your email address as the user id and the password sent through SMS. On successful login, you will be provided an application form to fill in and an application number (C15 followed by a 4digit number; eg., C159876).
6. Note down your application number and proceed to Step II: Payment of fees

Step II : Payment of application fee Online

Applicants need to pay the exam application fee through SBI Collect using Internet banking, Credit card or Debit card. For details about making payment through SBI collect, visit Instructions for payment through SBI Collect link on the CEED website.

Once the payment is successful, proceed to Step III: Completing the ONLINE Application Form

Step III : Completing the online application form

1. Students need to login with the registered email address and password in the Online application web page.
2. Enter your personal details
3. Choose an exam city. You have to provide three choices. If a particular city which you have given as the first choice has to be dropped by the CEED office, you will be automatically assigned the city of your second choice. If both the choices are not feasible, then the third choice will be allotted.
4. Enter the payment details (SBI collect reference number and the bank reference number).
5. Upload the files containing photograph, signature, eligibility certificate and other supporting documents.
6. You can “Save” the application form anytime, logout, and login back again to continue the application process.
7. Before Clicking ‘Submit’, you must check whether the information filled by you is correct through the ’preview’ option, as you cannot edit the form after submitting it.
8. Once you submit the application form, you will get a confirmation page. Keep a copy of this. This is only for your reference. Please do not send this to the CEED office.
9. If the application filling page remains idle for more than 30 minutes, the session will expire. In such a case, you have to login again and continue from your last saved session.

Application Fee Amount

The Non-refundable application fee for CEED 2015 is as follows. (all amounts are in Rupees). Bank charges will be extra which has to be borne by the applicant. Please check with your bank for the exact amount.  

Applicant Photograph and Signature

1. Applicant’s photograph must be professionally taken in a studio in a white background.  Please ask the studio to provide you a copy of the photograph in a JPEG format.
2. The photograph must be of the size (in a 4:3 ratio of  height: width)

• 640 x 480 pixels maximum
• 320 x 240 pixels minimum

Photographs must be recent and been taken after April 2014.

3. Photographs taken in poor light, blurred, dark background, or through mobile phones are not acceptable.

  4. Applicant’s signature must also be photographed or scanned by professional studios, and not by mobile phones.

Check List

You have to upload:

• Your photograph in jpg format.
• Your signature in jpg format.
• Your Degree certificate or certificate from principal/head of the department (in pdf format).
• Cast certificate in pdf format (for SC/ST/OBC category candidates only)
• Medical certificate in pdf format (for candidates claiming PD status)
• Experience certificate in case of candidates with G.D. Arts qualification.
