CEED exam pattern is such that the test is divided into two sections, that is, Part A and Part B. Aspirants need to attempt both these parts of CEED exam in 3 hours duration.

A candidate’s score in Part A of CEED 2016 will be used as a cut-off. Thus, Part B of the exam will be evaluated for only those candidates who have performed well in CEED Part A test. Also, the marks secured by an aspirant in CEED 2016 Part B exam will be declared as the candidate’s CEED 2016 score.

CEED 2016 result will be declared on January 15, 2016. View important dates for CEED 2016 here.

Shiksha.com got talking to some CEED 2016 aspirants to find out the test pattern and difficulty level of CEED 2016. Most of the students we spoke to shared that the exam pattern of CEED 2016 was little different as compared to previous years’ question papers. They also revealed that CEED exam this year was tougher as compared to last year and Part A of the test was very time consuming.

Experts also shared exam analysis for CEED 2016 and revealed that the exam pattern was almost similar to previous years' question papers, however, Part A of the exam had few surprises.

CEED 2016: How was the exam?

“I got around 30 questions in part A. No questions on any general stuff like photography, directors, authors, design, culture, logos were asked. All I could see was English comprehension and solid cubes questions. Part B was any day better than part A”, shared Preeti Singh Phougat who is currently working as a designer in Springonion and has pursued Textile Art and Design from NIFT.

Confirming the same Rajan Barnwal, Anjali Kukreja and Rajesh Kumar shared that Part A of CEED 2016 had very lengthy questions and thus most of the students struggled to complete the test on time.

As per Nisheet Shrivastava, Section 3 of Part A should be attempted first as the questions were easier. He further shared that, “In Part B it was difficult to navigate through questions on screen. The system was unnecessarily asking to select on screen if we had answered something or not. I managed to complete three questions in part B including the 50 marker. Had to skip the story writing question because it would have consumed too much time”.

CEED 2016: Difficulty Level

Majority of the students shared that Part A as well as Part B of CEED exam 2016 was way tougher than last year. However, the aspect which made students nervous in the exam was that the questions asked in Part A of the test were time consuming and long which left them with very little time to attempt CEED 2016 Part B exam questions to their satisfaction.

A Mechanical Engineering student, Rohit Sharma from Arya College of Engineering & IT said, “Part A was time consuming but questions were easy. The format of questions were long and to solve them too it was long. Still I managed to solve 35 questions. Part B was easy too, only the second question required innovative thinking and I got a little stuck at that”. He further shared that, “The first 10 questions in Part A were really time consuming and I guess everybody faced the same problem”.

Dhairye added to this by saying, “Part A of CEED 2016 was very time consuming. I could only attempt 30 questions. Part B was also tougher than last year especially animation and product questions”.

CEED 2016: Exam Pattern

As per students, the questions asked in CEED 2016 were less design oriented and had more emphasis on reading comprehension and verbal reasoning.

“Now every MBA aspirant can take the CEED exam. Irony is, it took us one year to prepare for the exam but it took only 15 minutes for the exam designer to copy questions from MBA entrance exams. I wish, I would have spent more time studying verbal reasoning and reading comprehension by RS Agarwal. It would have been better if I would have opted to take CAT over CEED”, shared Rachit Sharma who is an Analyst working for Google.

Providing a different side to the story, Prateek Kumar shared that, “Yes, the exam pattern for CEED was different this year but IIT had already shared this on its website well in advance so I do  not know why everyone is so upset”.

Mithil too shared that the test pattern for CEED 2016 was the same as previous year, "Part A Section I had numerical type questions for 20 marks, Section II had multiple answer questions for 20 marks and Section III had MCQs for 60 marks". He further said that, "This year the type of questions like logical reasoning and mental ability were tough and in ample amounts, however, Part B of the exam was very general".
