UCEED 2016 Exam Analysis: Time Consuming & Tricky
IIT Bombay conducted UCEED from 10 am to 1 pm on January 17 to offer admissions to aspirants in BDes programmes. The test paper of UCEED exam was divided into three sections which comprised of Numerical Ability Type (NAT) questions, Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
However, candidates need to note that even if they qualify UCEED then also it doesn’t guarantee admission in BDes courses offered at the colleges that accept UCEED ranks. After securing a good rank in UCEED exam, aspirants need to further apply for admissions at the respective colleges and thereafter fulfill their admission requirements.
Aspirants are also informed that the UCEED 2016 score is valid for admissions in 2016-2017 academic year only.
UCEED 2016 Exam Pattern Analysis
Since UCEED started last year (2015), it's obvious that everybody expected the pattern for this year (2016) to be similar to that of UCEED 2015. But this was not the case. Just like CEED, there is a change in the type and number of questions that they asked in UCEED 2016 from each topic. Although the syllabus for the exam was the same but UCEED paper didn't covered all the topics and high importance and emphasis was laid on the trickiness of the questions.

UCEED 2016 Exam Topics Analysis
As per the feedback shared with me by this year’s UCEED aspirants - Priyanka Jadon, Rakesh Singh and Ayushi Agarwal, the question paper was quite unexpected and tricky. Several regularly appearing questions related to observation, logo designers and many other GA topics went missing. Very few historical and cultural questions including few general awareness questions related to design came but a lot of aptitude question were asked in UCEED 2016.

UCEED 2016 going the CEED Way
This kind of situation happened back in 2013 with CEED too. CEED 2012 covered many mathematical aptitude questions and so almost all the aspirants for the next year targeted and prepared well for the aptitude part. But surprisingly, in CEED 2013 paper, there wasn't a single aptitude question! Although regular image type puzzles and observatory situations were asked.
Now, again IDC, IIT Bombay proved their brilliance in framing the question paper! Like I stated earlier, this year’s UCEED paper gave everyone a shock - that not even regularly expected visualisation and observation questions were covered in the test paper.

But I always maintain that UCEED, CEED and NID entrance exam cover wide/broad topics and it's quite tough to predict the pattern. Although we can deduce something based on the previous years’papers. Still, predicting the important topics with100% surety is never possible.
The best suggestion that I can give for any UCEED aspirant is that they should have a proper balance between the topics that they target as well as the pattern they assume. Like, instead of concertrating more on some specific topics according to a list that they prepare or some other criteria, they must have balance and prepare for the most important topics in equal weightage.
Most of the students simply follow the latest previous year’s exam pattern, without realising that same topics or repetition of exam pattern won't take place every time.
Thus, summing it all up, UCEED 2016 paper was quite interesting with time consuming, tricky and surprising questions.
