UCEED 2016 Exam Today

UCEED 2016 is being conducted by IIT Bombay today, January 17, 2016 across 14 test cities in the country. UCEED 2016 is a computer-based exam which will comprise of three sections. Each UCEED exam section will have different types of questions, that is, Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

On the basis of an aspirants rank in UCEED 2016, he/she can get one step closer to securing admission in BDes programme offered at IIT Bombay and other participating colleges. This is because candidates who have qualified UCEED exam then need to separately apply for admission at the respective colleges that accept UCEED 2016 scores for admissions.

Shiksha.com spoke to students who are about to take UCEED 2016 at an exam centre at Greater Noida. Most of the students shared that they are happy that they are appearing for UCEED this year. Shiv Kumar said, “I am expecting the test paper to be more challenging than last year. Right now IIT-B is still experimenting with the test pattern and I feel I am in the Guinea pig batch, so keeping fingers crossed”.

Nandini, a student of Kendra Vidyala Noida shared that, “I am nervous and also excited to give UCEED, I gave NID exam as well, and it went well. So, I am hoping for UCEED to be the same but now all my friends are scaring me that I am being too optimistic and paper will be hard this time because questions are less as compared to the total time duration of the exam”.

The reason behind students getting worried is that in 2015, UCEED exam had 100 questions which aspirants had to attempt in 3 hours. However, in UCEED 2016, candidates have to answer 80 questions in 3 hours duration.

Parents of students appearing for UCEED are quite nervous. Shifali Verma, whose daughter is sitting for UCEED 2016 said, “IIT Bombay is a very prestigious educational institute and my daughter’s future will be secure if she is able to crack this exam, she has been working hard to get through either NID or this exam. But I hope she clears UCEED”.
