Category wise cut off marks for JEE Main 2015

JEE Main 2015 cut offs - Candidates who have managed to make their places among the top 1,50,000 students in JEE Main 2015 will now have to appear for JEE Advanced 2015. Eligible students can register for the exam at the official website. The registration window for the same began on May 2, 2015 and will close on May 7, 2015.

The results of JEE Main 2015 were declared on April 27, 2015, which saw 1,52,401 students qualifying the cut-offs declared on the same day. Only the top 1,50,000 students who fulfil the all five eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced can appear for it.

Aspirants who fulfil the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2015 has to submit a few documents while registering for the exam. The documents required for registration can be viewed here.

Recently, the cut-off marks for each category has been announced on the official website of the exam. The cut-off for General category stood at 105 marks while for physically handicapped students in general category the minimum marks are 19. The cut-off for Other Backward Classes – NCL is 70 while for students who are physically handicapped in this category, its -25. The minimum marks for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe are 50 and 44 respectively. However, for students who are physically handicapped in SC and ST categories, the cut-off is -21 and -11 respectively.

1. Performance in JEE (Main) 2015To be able to appear for JEE Advanced 2015, applicants must first qualify the eligibility criteria for the same. A registrant must qualify all the five eligibility criteria mentioned below:

A candidate must be among the top 1,50,000 students who qualified JEE Main 2015. Total number of students for various categories is given below:

2. Age limit

Candidates belonging to GEN or OBC-NCL category must have been born on or after October 1, 1990. Those belonging to SC, ST or PwD category must be born on or after October 1, 1985.

3. Number of attempts

Candidates are barred from attempting JEE Advanced from more than two times in consecutive years. Therefore, aspirants appearing for the JEE Advanced 2015 must be taking it either for the first time or second time in consecutive years.

4. Class XII (or equivalent) examination

Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2015 must have cleared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination in all subjects in first attempt in either 2014 or 2015. Those willing to appear in one or more subjects again for improvement or because they failed, have to re-appear in all the subjects in 2015.

Applicants who have cleared Class XII (or equivalent) examination in first time in 2013 or earlier are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2015. However, those who had given exam in the year 2013 but the result for the same were announced after June 2013 can take the exam.

5. Earlier admission at IITs/ ISM

Aspirants are not eligible for JEE Advanced if he/ she had taken admission to any of the IITs or ISM in past or even accepted the admission by paying the admission fee irrespective of whether they continued the studies or not. However, candidates who took preparatory course from any of the IITs in 2014 can take JEE Advanced 2015.
