Many options are available for students with low scores in BITSAT. Reattempting the exam requires a lot of dedication and determination to get the desired results. Explore the available options and keep a back-up while preparing for the main exam.

BITSAT is a national-level exam conducted by BITS Pilani for admissions in BITS campuses. With high competition, the difficulty level of this exam is high too. In case, the BITSAT score of a student is low or below their expectations then there is no need to worry as there are other options. Students have options like preparing well and reattempting BITSAT, JEE Main, getting admission in some deemed universities like SRM, VIT, Vignana, GITAM, attempting some state-level examinations like EAMCET, WBJEE, etc. There are many other options for everyone we just have to explore and utilise them properly. The available options are discussed below in detail.

Drop a year or not?

Many students have a dream to get a seat in BITS Pilani, so, if you are determined to work hard and secure good marks this time then dropping a year could be an option. Dropping a year is not as easy as it seems.  If the year is properly utilised and you get good score in BITSAT then the year is not considered as wasted. However, if you cannot reach the set expectations then this surely is a waste of effort, money, and time. So, take a wise decision. In case of reattempting the exam,  prepare a proper study plan, work harder, and take guidance from your friends, faculty and seniors, read each topic and revise thoroughly, practise previous year question papers, sample papers and write mock tests.

Best colleges one can get with low scores

Some of the private engineering colleges and private universities give admissions based on the BITSAT score, JEE Main score, etc. such as Advait Vedanta Institute of Technology Engineering, SRHU - Swami Rama Himalayan University and many more.  Students could also give other deemed universities entrance examinations, state-level entrance examinations, etc. The students with less score could also apply through management quota in some of the colleges.

Wait for subsequent counselling sessions

Students must wait for subsequent counselling sessions when they have achieved good scores. In case the scores are below your expectations then wait only if you are interested, however, the chances to get admission are low in such a scenario. In my opinion, do not waste your time in the counselling process unless there is a chance depending on the admission process, cut-off, etc.

Attempt JEE Main again in May

The students could opt to attempt JEE Main again in May basis their preparation. Almost for all the national-level engineering examinations the syllabus, standard books would be the same, however, the exam pattern might change. Though for reattempting the exam, students might have less time, but the chances of securing a good score are a little high as they are already aware of the syllabus pattern, important topics, etc. The important thing this time is to revise each topic thoroughly and give mock tests to improve your performance. Also, clarify all the doubts and avoid repeating mistakes. If you have any queries it is always better to consult experienced people like your faculty, famous platforms like shiksha.com, etc.
