Coronavirus: Jamia Hamdard University to go lenient on students' attendance

Jamia Hamdard University has announced that it is going to pardon attendance shortage for all students across its different schools as a one time measure.

With the extension in the nationwide lockdown to May 3, deemed-to-be-university Jamia Hamdard has decided to pardon attendance shortage for all students across its different schools as a one time measure.

Jamia Hamdard University has also preponed the summer vacations for the students until May 15, 2020. The university will re-open on May 18, 2020, the varsity said in a statement.

The University has decided to promote all the students, except the one studying in the final semester, without the examination. Only final semester students will have to appear for the semester-end exams once the University re-opens. The University is planning to complete the final semester students' exams by May 31, the statement added.

"Practical examinations for all semesters, other than for the final year students will also be through assignments/ reports, etc. as per the decision of concerned teachers. In the case in some courses, practical examination still required this should be completed within 10 days after the University reopens," the University said.

Jamia Hamdard is also planning to allow Ph.D. students to submit their thesis in six months' time.

University is also planning to grant six months of relaxation to Ph.D. students in thesis submission.

Classes for the new session will begin on August 3.
