Coronavirus: NIT Goa shuts down its campus till March 31

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa has asked all its students to vacate the hostel in wake of rising in a number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

Keeping in view the current rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in India, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa, has closed its campus till March 31 and has instructed all the students to vacate respective hostels.

In a circular released by the institute, NIT Goa Director Gopal Mugeraya asked all the students to go home till further notice issued on the official website.

As per the circular, all academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities will remain suspended till March 31 till further notice. However, all those who are working in administration need to do their required work online and should be available on phone or email at any given point of time for official work.

Requesting all the students, teachers and staff, Mugreraya said, that the coronavirus can be stopped from spreading if only everyone takes proper precautionary measures.

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in India as per the Ministry of Health stands at 129 including three dead. The highest number of cases that have been reported is from Maharashtra which is followed by Kerala.

To reduce the spread of the virus, educational institutions across the country have been closed till March 31.

NIT Goa is one of the most premier engineering institutes in India. This time is quite crucial for aspirants looking forward to getting admission in the same as the JEE Main 2020 April session is around the corner (April 5, 7, 8, 9, 11). JEE Main 2020 January session was held on January 6- 9, and the result of the same was announced on January 17, 2020.
