Anna University has asked all its teaching and non-teaching staff to start work from home from tomorrow, amid a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country. 

With coronavirus pandemic tightening its grip on India, Anna University has announced that all its teaching and non-teaching staff to start work from home from March 25 until March 31. 

Following the directive given by the government and University Grant Commission (UGC) to all the universities across the country, to shut down as a precautionary measure to avoid further spread of coronavirus, Anna University, has asked all its teaching and non-teaching staff to start work from home until further notice.

The university has asked all the faculty members, teaching fellow, administrative staff members, and technical and non-technical staff members to stop coming to campus and start working from home. 

All faculty members have been asked by the university to make the best utilization of this opportunity to work from home by providing online classes to the students. It has also asked teachers to share notes on Whatsapp to the students in order to keep them engaged. The university has also recommended teachers to use this time to explore non-traditional methods of teaching.

The directive to work from home is also applicable for research scholars, the university said in a statement.

While being at work from home, technical and non-technical administrative staff members have to make sure that they are physically present at the university in case of any urgency or to attend any immediate administrative work.

Anna University has also requested all its students and staff to avoid any social gathering and follow all the guidelines issued by the health ministry and stay safe.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development had recently, announced work from home for all teaching and non-teaching staff. It has also directed all educational institutions to suspend classes and move all teaching and assignment work online.
