As per media reports, IIT Kharagpur completed phase-I placements for the year 2018-19 with over 1275 offers from 192 companies. Maximum recruitments were made in the field of IT & Software. Prominent companies which made large number of recruitments at IIT Kharagpur are Google, Flipkart, JP Morgan, Tata Steel, Microsoft, Apple, Intel and Capgemini among others. Among international recruiters, Japan emerged as the top recruiter with maximum number of placements.
In 2018 phase-I placements for IIT Kharagpur, about 40% job offers were made in IT & Software sector followed by core Engineering profiles with 20% offers, Analytics & E-Commerce with 15% offers each and Finance with 10% offers.

IIT Kharagpur students bagged total 23 international job offers from countries such as Japan, Germany, Taiwan and USA, as per media reports. Most number of international placements took place in Japan with four Japanese companies making 11 job offers. Six offers were made in US from companies such as Microsoft, Uber and Cohesity. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd made a total of four job offers to students. Germany being the first time recruiter made two offers this year in KPIT.
The final MBA placements 2018 at VGSoM (Vinod Gupta School of Management), IIT Kharagpur successfully completed with 100% placements, 108 students grabbing 108 offers. A total of 68 companies (including 35 first time recruiters) had participated in the placement drive and offered coveted roles across sectors such as Retail, E-Commerce, Consulting, Manufacturing & Engineering, Analytics, and Banking & Financial Services.

The highest domestic and international package that was grabbed during IIT Kharagpur MBA placements 2018 was Rs 24.03 lakh and Rs 27.00 lakh, respectively. As per media reports, at the end of IIT Kharagpur phase-I placement drive for 2017, over 1200 job offers were made in total by about 200 companies. Average salary package received by IIT Kharagpur students in 2017 was Rs 13.30 lakh. Quantiphi Analytics and Intel emerged as top recruiters with about 34 and 33 job offers, respectively.
In 2017, IIT Kharagpur placements for undergraduate courses touched 75% mark, while placements for postgraduate courses was at 38%. Approximately 30 offers were made from international companies such as Uber, Microsoft, LG Korea, Mercari, and Konica.
