Preparation for JEE Advanced often seems difficult for many students. By following an organised schedule, practising previous years question papers, working on the weak areas would help in preparing for the exam easily and effectively.

JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into various under graduation courses in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Last Week Tips & Tricks

The last week is crucial for any competitive exam. The last week tips and tricks for JEE Advanced are as follows:

  • Avoid starting new topics in the last week
  • Attempt as many mock tests as possible, self-evaluate the answers and work on the weak areas
  • Practise as maximum previous years question papers, list down the topics with high weightage and practise these topics
  • Note down the important formulae and scientific constant values to revise before the exam
  • Do not get tensed, eat healthy and sleep well

Tips on time management

Every student should work on improving their time managing skills to get a good score. To manage time in the examination, practise previous year questions paper and complete the same within the prescribed time limit. Allocate time to each subject based on the difficulty level and focus on completing the same. Attempt all the easy questions first, so that more time would be left for difficult questions.

Scoring Topics (Chapters/ preparation Strategy)

The subject-wise scoring topics for JEE Advanced are as follows:

Physics: Dimensional Analysis, Geometrical Optics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Waves and Sound, Thermodynamics, Rotational Dynamics, Electromagnetic Induction, Electrostatics,           Gravitation, and Heat Transfer

Mathematics: Definite Integration, Continuity and Differentiability, Applications of Derivatives, Matrices and Determinants, Probability, Vectors, Three-Dimensional Geometrical System, Parabola, Circle, Area Under Curves, Differential Equation, Sequence and Series

Chemistry: Chemical Bonding and the Periodic Table, Thermochemistry and the Second Law of Thermodynamics, Solid, Liquid and Gaseous Theory, Redox Reactions, Mole Concept and the Concept of Equivalents, Carbonyl Compounds and their Derivatives.

Study Plan for revision

Most of the students start their JEE Advanced preparation right after they qualify JEE Main but one thing every aspirant should keep in mind is to start the JEE Advanced preparation right from Class 12 if they want to join IIT. Every year there is approximately a period of one and half month after the second session of JEE Main examination. Hence, focus on revising all the topics thoroughly before the exam.

Class 12 and JEE preparation

Managing Class 12 and JEE Main preparation is not that difficult, however, when it comes to JEE Advanced the preparation is a lot more difficult. The topics would remain the same and one would have to improve their problem-solving capability to qualify JEE Advanced.
