The B.Tech Program in ECE offered at LNMIIT, Jaipur is carefully designed to impart strong foundation in the subjects of Physics, and Mathematics and the professional core courses such as Programming and Data Structures, Analog and Digital Circuits, Signal and Systems, Digital Signal Processsing, RF and Microwaves Techniques, Micro-Processor and Micro-Controller etc. The students, through the programmes,  will also enjoy having hands-on experience in basic and advanced level ECE labs including both hardware and soft-ware implementation funs and challenges. The best part about this programme lies in the freedom of choice of several advanced-level Program Electives and the Science Electives that are offered  in each semester.

Students who take up ECE will also have the opportunity to undertake Summer/Winter Internship right after the end of their second semester in the Department as well as in the ongoing sponsored research projects of the department.

Apart from their usual studies, the students will get the exposure of research methodologies, Technical Project writing, Collaborative research with other Institutions e.g IITD, IIT-Patna, IIT-Jodhpur etc. and foreign Laboratories. This will help the students to secure Foreign Internships in Corporate/Academic Institutions. Currently, the major focus research areas are : VLSI technology and embedded system, Cognitive radio, 5G networks, RF techniques, Broadband optical communication.

Take a look at the other key highlights of the programme below:

Faculty Profile: The ECE department has a strong team of faculty members, majority of whom have  their Ph.D from IITs or from universities abroad. They possess substantial research experience and publications as well as relevant industry experience. Few young faculty members are at the final stage of submitting their Ph.D theses.

Laboratories in the Department of ECE: The Department provides a large variety of lab facilities for ECE curriculum. Following are the lab courses which are offered in the department for ECE program:

1) Basic Electronics Lab (I and II)

2) Digital Circuits and Systems Lab,

3) Analog and Digital Communication labs

4) Digital Signal Processing Lab

5) Optical and Microwaves Lab

6) Microprocessor Lab

7) Embedded Systems Lab

8) Design with FPGA Lab

9) Simulation lab

The ECE department at LNMIIT is developing its laboratory facilities with the collaboration of top notch industry partners. The microprocessor lab is supported by Intel, the Embedded system lab is set up in collaboration with Texas Instruments and ARM.

While, the VLSI lab is developed under the Xilinx University program. Cisco is contacted for setting up the networking lab in the department. The idea behind setting up all industry supported labs is to remain synchronized the steps in research and development in corresponding fields with the top industry partners.

ECE labs are not only used for regular curriculum based courses  but also for all the project development. UG students utilize the lab resources to develop their course projects, B.Tech projects and prepare for national and international contests. PG students too utilize these labs for the same purpose. The labs remain open till hostel hours.

Research Collaboration: The department has significant academic collaboration with several Institutes including IIT-Delhi, IIIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Ropar, Kolkata University, NERIST-Itanagar, IIT-Patna and MNIT-Jaipur.  A three-year Project on “Cognitive Radio: is being currently operational in the Department, sponsored by the Government of India. Several other research projects are in the pipeline too.

Workshops and Seminars: LNMIIT organizes various workshops, seminars, interaction with subject experts and industry professionals throughout the year to enhance student knowledge in the latest trends and developments in the field of Electronics and Communication. In January 2015, the department conducted a three day workshop on “Modeling, Simulation and Computational Techniques (WMSC-2015)” from January 15 - 17, 2015. The workshop aimed to foster interdisciplinary collaborative research in the area of modeling, simulation and computational techniques across a wide spectrum of application domains and to address current and future trends in simulation techniques, models, practices and software. In the same year, 3 other workshops were organized for VLSI and Embedded system development which was participated by faculty members and students from various institutes of India, including major IITs.

IEEE Student Chapter: LNMIIT students are involved in various research and development projects, industrial and academia visits for an internship or training. LNMIIT IEEE chapter is a combined association of faculty members along with the enthusiastic students of the institute.  The chapter strives for creating technology for people and people for technology.

The IEEE chapter organizes workshops in popular areas. Distinguished lectures and student competitions are few regular events which this branch pursues with the highest order of energy and expected outcomes. National and international level workshops and conferences are some of the milestones which we would really like to reach soon.

Career path: The curriculum based courses in Electronics and Communication engineering at the LNMIIT provide a pretty broad-based technical education and training. It is an excellent foundation for graduates who are planning an individual career path depending on his own preferences to move into core technical in Government/PSU/Corporate jobs , higher studies and research options or management-oriented positions such as engineering manager, project manager and general manager. Undoubtedly, success is bound to happen if the honesty of the purpose is preserved.
