MHTCET 2020 Supreme Court dismisses plea to postpone the exam

MHT CET 2020: The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a plea filed to postpone the Maharashtra Common Entrance Examination (MHT CET) 2020. Referring the order to conduct NEET and JEE Main, The apex court said that, as the order to conduct the two exams has already been issued, it is why exams in one state can't be postponed.

During the hearing on MHT CET 2020, the court said, "We already allowed conducting JEE-NEET, how can we now stop exams in one state?” On August 22, the Supreme Court had dismissed a plea seeking deferment of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. Both the exams are scheduled to be conducted in September 2020. Referring to the same, the top court ordered to not postpone the MHTCET 2020.

The students and parents are demanding constantly to cancel these entrance exams as the cases due to the COVID-19 are increasing daily. Recently, Sandeep Kadam, Commissioner, CET Cell, said that the MHT CET 2020 would be conducted online, but not in a proctored manner. He also clarified that there is no chance of considering JEE Main scores for engineering admissions in Maharashtra.

One of the notifications available on the official website of the State Common Entrance Tets Cell, Maharashtra, said, "Due to the global epidemic of coronavirus, MHT CET 2020 has been postponed till further orders from the State Common Entrance Examination Cell.” Now, after the Supreme Court’s order, It is expected that the cell will announce the new dates for the exam soon.
