First of all, if we want to have a successful career, we need to choose our career as early as possible so that we don’t get confused at the time of decision making.

Career decision

Since my childhood, I always dreamt of becoming a software engineer and currently, I am pursuing my studies in engineering. In my 11th grade, due to merit, I was not selected for Computer Science, so I had to opt for the science stream with Biology and Maths, but it was fun. Side by side, I was engaged in technology-related things. But my main goal until 12th grade was to clear my JEE Main and MHT-CET exams and to get admission in a good engineering college.

I had heard names of many big colleges. But frankly, I was not interested in those because colleges don't decide our future, it is only we who decide it, and it mainly depends on what we study and how much dedicated we are towards studies. I want to pass out as a SPPU (Pune University) student because it has a good reputation. Most of the colleges in Pune are affiliated to SPPU and they are good.

Luckily, I got admission in one of the Sinhgad institutes located in Warje, Pune. Sinhgad Institute is one of the reputed institutes in Pune. I got my admission through CAP (Centralised Admission Process) round, which is held by DTE, Maharashtra. I was selected on merit-basis with my MHT-CET score. In this way, I started my BTech programme.

Exam Tips

For admissions in any engineering college in Maharashtra, we need to appear for an entrance test conducted by DTE, Maharashtra and by the means of traditional JEE Mains score. But the quota for JEE is only 15% in Maharashtra state and rest all is through MHT-CET entrance.

I was selected through CAP round, based on my MHT-CET score and was allotted one of the Sinhgad institutes for IT engineering.

I had also appeared for JEE Main and MHT-CET. While my JEE Main score was really low, I prepared well and gave my best for this entrance exam because I wanted admission in Pune only, and got a considerable score. For JEE exam, we really need to think twice before answering any question as they carry negative marking. So be wise while answering JEE questions.

Well, I did not join any coaching classes. I used to study at home and get my doubts cleared by my school teachers and used to practice at home. It’s one's choice to join coaching classes or not. But if you want to get admission in big colleges, you can opt for a coaching class as it gives better practice and better understanding, and makes us prepared for the entrance exams.

While preparing for entrance exams, first of all, clear all the concepts, read all the chapters in the syllabus twice or thrice. Most of the questions asked are concept-based and you really need to focus on the concepts. Practice as much as you can; practice makes us perfect! One thing- if you want a good score, you really need to show dedication towards your studies and need to give your 100%.
