Mystory@Phale Omkar Uday

I was a Science student in school and I chose this stream because in Std X I became curious about technology and computers. Later, I suddenly realised that I am enjoying learning through Maths and that is the reason why I chose Science in Class XI and XII. I was a dedicated Medical aspirant but I chose Engineering as my career path because it helped me connect with the real world and somehow would give me the opportunity to understand the actual workings and operations of the electronic world.

Another important reason why I chose Science is that I like logical thinking and solving mysteries. I love to find out how things work and why they are designed to work in a particular way only. Also, I love the idea of travelling through stars and space around the earth. Also, by selecting Science I feel that I might be able to contribute a little something to the human knowledge about which the rest of the world does not know about. But this does not mean that I am underestimating other streams but science is definitely more fascinating and amazing than rest of the streams available.

As Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Raigad (MS) is the only technological university of Maharashtra and well known for ECE course, I applied for admission at this university through CAP rounds and eventually got selected.

How I cracked college admission

After completing my Class XII board exams of Maharashtra state I appeared for JEE-2014, NEET-2014, AIPMT-2014. I was a dedicated Medical aspirant but I chose Engineering as my career because I really enjoyed learning through Maths. Also, I was curious about electronics and technology during my Class X and that made me choose Engineering over Medical. I started preparing for competitive exams by searching a suitable coaching institute and junior college as soon as I got my results of Std X. I took coaching for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology for both boards and entrance exams. I used to study for 12-14 hours daily because I was preparing for both Medical and Engineering entrance exams.

After I got my results of the entrance exams, I went through the brochures so that I could understand the admission procedures, documents required for each process, etc. Also, I started searching for good colleges that I should consider joining which offered different Medical and Engineering courses. After this, I took part in the admission procedure through CAP rounds through ARC centres and ended up getting admission at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Raigad(MS).

I believe only hard work and dedication is going to help you to achieve your goals in life.

The other preferred colleges were Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad; Government College of Engineering, Avasari; Deogiri Institute of Engineering and Management Aurangabad. But I did not take admission there.

My college life

At college, I spent my time in lectures and tried to implement the knowledge that I gained in those lectures during my practical sessions. As now I am a final year student, most of my time is spent on researching and working on my project work with the help of my Guides. I’ve also started looking for a topic which will be helpful for me to do my community project in the next semester. Whenever I get free time, I talk with my friends regarding their projects, job opportunities and stuff related to exams so that way I keep myself updated and I get to share the knowledge that I have.

My university campus is surrounded by scenic beauty and as I have a knack for photography I click photos of the campus and try to ace my hobby.

In this semester I have a subject called ‘Digital Image Processing’. I find this subject fascinating because I’ve an interest in photography and through this subject I get to know how an image is formed and what processes we can do on that image. This subject somewhat helped me with my photo editing skills and I feel happy to use those contrast/brightness tools because now I know how they work. Another subject that caught my attention was ‘Microcontroller and Application’ which included programming for embedded systems, it always amazed me how a bunch of code lines can be used to process a machine. That subject is coming in handy for my project work.

I was an introvert but Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University helped me in interacting with new people and this will always be a big influence on me as it helped me in polishing my skills.

I feel glad to tell that at college I have been part of many extra-curricular activities. Each year, there is a technical festival named Cynosure in our university and I have consistently been a part of that for 3 years in a row. First, I was a participant in various events then in second year I progressed and became a team member of an event named Crime Scene Investigation arranged by Engg’oy Club which is a non-technical club in BATU and then in the third year I became a core committee member, I was in decoration and event management team. Through Engg’oy Club we arranged various competitions and exhibitions for students in our university. Being an EXTC student I became a part of NCCCEEE-2016 conference. I was also a part of MEMOIRE which was an alumni meet arranged by our department and last but not the least I am a part of Team Technospark since 2 years. As part of this team we manufacture ATV for various competitions. I always loved doing something for the community and for that purpose I was part of NSS unit in our university. I would love to work in the training and placement cell of BATU.
