Mystory@Ritik Srivastava: How I selected my college and course
After 12th, it is the most critical stage of our life. The same was with me. I have appeared for almost all the engineering entrance exams, the most important JEE Mains as well. I could manage to bag a score of 93 marks and the cutoff was 105. Everyone in my family was after my life to not score well and I was searching for a good technical college to pursue engineering. But the search did no good to me.
My College Admissions
I got a rank in 14k in the UPSEE exam (formerly UPTU). My father advised me to at least attend the counselling for both the exams. As advised, I appeared for the JEE counselling and got IPEC-Ghaziabad, Mechanical Engineering. I decided to wait for the results of UPSEE counselling and got SRMS Bareilly, Mechanical Engineering. I and my parents both were not satisfied with the college and then my father said that lets go to NCR region and try for direct admission in one of the best private colleges for technical education. We somehow came here but the situations and circumstances didn’t seem favorable so, the only option left was to take admission in IPEC, Ghaziabad.
After the announcement of the additional counselling list of UPSEE, I got KIET Ghaziabad, Mechanical Engineering and this made us really happy as neither of us were satisfied nor happy with IPEC. It is indeed a good college for mechanical engineering candidates. Currently KIET holds a repo for best average marks scored in UPSEE.
My College Life
Coming to a new city was initially difficult. Everything was to be managed single handedly as here, parents won’t be readily available for their support. It was my first experience to stay away from home and all by myself. But as time passed, things settled and I made friends. We were a group of 7 mates and I found everyone similar to me in some or the other way.
In academics, I scored 79.2% in the first sem and 74% in the second sem. We are second year BTech students in Mechanical.
