Uttarkhand government has announced that it will commence the admission process for the new academic year for various courses in all colleges and universities across the state from September 1.

Anand Bardhan, principal secretary, Uttarakhand government issued the order in this regard and said: “With rising Covid-19 cases in the country and the state, the academic session has been affected across colleges and universities in the state. All colleges and universities are being instructed to ensure that the syllabus should be completed by June 7 this year. Examinations must be conducted from July 1 and be completed within a span of one month,” said the order.
The order further stated that for the already enrolled students the new session will begin from August 1 and classes for new admissions will start from September 1.
The principal secretary added that colleges and universities shall be informed soon about the summer vacations for the institutes.
In mid-March, schools, colleges, and other educational institutions around the country were closed due to coronavirus outbreak in the country. Considering the coronavirus situation in the country and the rising number of positive cases, the nationwide lockdown was extended until May 31 recently by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
With the admission process and year-end semester exam postponed, the lockdown has severely affected the academic calendar this year.
The coronavirus pandemic continues to surge in India, with the total number of cases now crossing the 1,10,000-mark. As many as 3,435 people have died due to the deadly virus until now.
