IISC Bangalore & IIT Delhi in Top 200 list of QS World University Rankings 2017
According to the recently released QS World University Rankings 2017, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) have been included in the list of Top 200 universities in the world. While IISC has secured the 152nd rank, IIT Delhi has been placed at 185th position.
The top five positions have secured by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Harvard University, University of Cambridge and California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Other IITs like IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati have featured in the Top 500 list.
The QS World University Rankings also ranks universities based on their individual subject areas. The idea is to ascertain the world's best schools in their chosen field. Currently, the QS World University Rankings by Subject covers 46 subjects in total.
Many Indian universities and institutes have featured in the QS’s Subject ranks too. Delhi University has been placed at the 16th position in development studies programme category while 6 Indian institutes including five IITs and IISc have featured in the Engineering and Technology Degrees subject category.
DU has also featured at the 210th position with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) at the 247th position in the Arts and Humanities subject category.

Also, this year University of Mumbai has also made it among the top 500 universities in QS World University Rankings by Subject. Four Departments of Mumbai University that feature in these rankings are - Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry as well as Pharmacy and Pharmacology.
It has been shared that Mumbai University's chemical engineering department has been ranked in the 201-250 category whereas the Pharmacy and Pharmacology department has been placed in the 251-300 category. Further, the Mechanical Engineering as well as Chemistry Departments are ranked in the 351-400 and 451-500 categories respectively.
