Questions asked in JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 and Paper 2 – January Session
JEE Main Questions - JEE Main 2019 January session is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from January 8 to 12, 2019 in two slots. While the first shift (slot 1) commences at 9:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm, the timing of the second slot is 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Shiksha has compiled a subject-wise list of questions asked (memory based) in JEE Main 2019 January exam for Paper 1 (BTech) and Paper 2 (BArch). Given below are day-wise JEE Main questions and topics asked in January session of the exam. The aim is to help prospective candidates prepare well for the exam.

JEE Main Paper 1 is divided over three sections – Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Check out a brief overall analysis of all the three subjects along with the topics and type of questions asked in all the three subjects of JEE Main 2019.

According to candidates who appeared for JEE Main 2019 January exam, Mathematics was the toughest of all the three subjects on the exam. Experts believed that the questions in this section of the exam was based more application based. Many candidates felt that instead of being direct, the Mathematics questions were tricky. Of the total 30 questions, around 10 questions were asked from Algebra, 8 from Calculus, 6 from Coordinate Geometry and 6 from Trigonometry.

Like 2018, Chemistry was considered to be the easiest of all the subjects of JEE Main 2019. Experts shared that out of the 30 questions, 12 questions were from Inorganic Chemistry, 9 were from Organic Chemistry and 9 were from Physical Chemistry. According to them, with strong fundamentals, candidates would be able to secure the highest marks in Chemistry section of JEE Main 2019.

The Physics section was believed to be of moderate difficulty level. This section of JEE Main was more theory-oriented. Candidates who appeared for slot 2 of the exam on January 9 shared that contrary to slot 1, Physics was the toughest section in this session. On the other hand, Mathematics of easier than the first slot of first day.
In the Physics section, approximately 8 questions were asked from Mechanics, 6 questions from Heat and Thermodynamics, 7 from Current Electricity and EMI, 4 questions from Electrostatics and Magnetism, and 5 questions from Optics and Modern Physics.

- Find motion of Inertia about the axis which is 3/2d from the central axis
- Most questions were from the mechanics section
- 5 questions were asked from Modern Physics out of which 3 were from Thermodynamics.
- X-Ray tube is made up of which substance?
- A resistance wire of resistance 18ohm was bent to into an equilateral triangle. Find the resistance between two of its vertices?
- A mass (m) placed on a plank has acceleration (g/2) upward. Find the work done by normal force in time (t)?
- A and B are two bullets fired with velocity 1km/h and 2km/h. Find the ratio of the maximum range covered by these bullets?
- A wavelength of L1 was incident on a ydse system it was that a bright fringe was found at an angle of 1/40 rad further another light of wavelength L2 was incident it was found that the bright fringe again occurs at the same angle if the distance between the slits was 0.01mm then find the wavelengths. (given that the wavelength lies in the visible region)
- A body was revolving around the earth with a velocity v if it was to escape earth’s field what will its total kinetic energy on earth be?
- A and B are two bullets fired with velocity 1km/h and 2km/h. Find the ratio of the maximum range covered by these bullets?
JEE Main Paper 2 is meant for candidates interested in pursuing BArch and BPlan courses at NITS, IIITs and CFTIs. The paper is divided over three sections - Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing.
- The first question was to design the curtain of small girl’s room.
- The second question was to sketch your favourite film actor
- The third was to sketch the scene of people sitting around a bonfire.
- In another question of 20 marks, a square design was given and students had to draw the same by drawing the replica to double its size
- Students were asked to draw a square with random designs using curved lines and colour.
Candidates reported that in a first, JEE Main Paper 2’s Aptitude section had questions related to ISRO and NASA. Even though unexpected, aspirants were able to answer the questions.
