Q:   If a student qualifies for GATE 2024, will he or she be able to get admission to IIT Bombay?

A:
No, a qualifying exam doesn't ensure admission to a particular institute. For admission to a certain institute, candidates have to score above the qualifying cutoff and appear for the counselling and admission process. The GATE cutoff for IIT varies according to the category of the candidates. It is to be noted that admission to IIT is based on factors including the cutoffs of the institute and branch in which admission is desired. Therefore, we can say that there is no minimum GATE score for IIT. The Indian Institutes of Technology Kanpur released the GATE 2023 cutoff for all 29 papers along with the GATE 2023 result. Q:   How is CGPA calculated at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology?

A:

At Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET), the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated based on a credit-based system.
GPA = (Σ (Grade Points × Credits)/ (Total Credits)

Credit System: SLIET follows a credit system where each course is assigned a certain number of credits. The credit value represents the weightage or importance of a course in the overall academic curriculum.

Grade Points: For each course, students are assigned grades based on their performance. The grades are typically represented using a letter grading system such as A, B, C, etc. Each letter grade corresponds to a specific grade point. The grade points indicate the level of achievement in a particular course.

Grade Point Average (GPA): To calculate the GPA for a semester, multiply the grade points earned in each course by the credit value of that course. Add up the total weighted grade points and divide it by the total credits for that semester. The resulting value is the GPA for that semester.
