JEE Advanced 2017 results got declared on June 11 and with that the names of the exam toppers were released too. Sarvesh Mehtani from Panchkula topped the JEE Advanced 2017 with an AIR 1. He was followed by Akshat Chugh and Ananay Agarway at the second and third position respectively.  

This year, around 2, 20, 000 aspirants were eligible for JEE Advanced. However, according to latest information, 1,59,540, aspirants actually took the exam on May 21. Out of these, 50455 made it to the JEE Advanced 2017 rank list across all categories.

Success Mantra: Follow your teachers blindly and revise regularly

Abhay Goyal, who has acquired All India Rank 23rd in JEE-Advanced, is eager to enter the administrative services. After studying Computer Science from IIT Bombay, he wants to prepare for Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

According to Abhay, going to Kota a lot to his success. He said, “I achieved a lot after coming to Kota. My performance improved a lot. There are good teachers and the best students from all over the country coming here which helps us face the national level competition here itself, so that the students can improve their performance. For a student to succeed, in Kota, he should blindly follow what his teachers ask him to do. I studied according to the teachers. Regularly revised the notes and did homework. It took me 6-7 hours in this. I like Maths and that's why I chose engineering. I give equal time to the three subjects in daily studies. In the 10th grade, I got 10 CGPA and achieved 88.6% marks in the 12th standard”.

This topper loves both playing and watching cricket. However, had to give up the same for his studies. His family lives in Gujarat's Bharuch. While his father works in the private sector, his mother is a housewife. Along with KVPY, he also qualified NSO and IMO.

Piyush Tibarewal: JEE Advanced 2017 AIR 37; JEE Mains 2017 AIR 14

Success Mantra: Hardwork is essential for success

“There is no short cut to success. Hardwork is the key. 2 years of consistent studies and success is sure to be yours”, said Piyush Tibarewal, JEE Advanced 2017 37th Topper. A student of the Allen Career Institute, Piyush used to devote equal time to all 3 subjects -Physics, Chemistry and Maths. He shared, “I value the importance of homework and revision in studies. Whenever I got time off from my studies, I used to play table tennis in the evening. Not only this, I also like to watch movies on laptop for some time. I strongly believe that daily work should be settled daily and whatever is taught in coaching should be revised at home the same day.”

A resident of Ahmedabad, Piyush’s father is the Vice President Finance in Italia Group in Ahmedabad itself and Mother is a housewife.

According to Piyush, it is fun to study Maths which is why he decided to pursue engineering. The 17 year old wants to pursue BTech in computer science from IIT Bombay. After this, he wants to do MBA, following which he aims to get into the service sector.

Besides JEE Main and JEE Advanced, he has been an NTSE and KVPY Scholar and have qualified the first stages of various Olympiads. Apart from his studies, Piyush likes indulging in various games and used to play basketball and chess before coming to Kota.

JEE Advanced 2017 Topper Satvik Mehulbhai

Satvik Mehulbhai: JEE Advanced 2017 AIR 42

Success Mantra: With support from friends, family and teachers, one can achieve everything he wants.

Satvik Mehulbhai from Ahmedabad bagged AIR 42 in JEE Advanced 2017. He will be the first engineer in his family of doctors. Satvik's mother is a gynecologist, while his father is an Orthopedic. Both his elder sisters too have completed MBBS.

Satvik’s reason of choosing engineering for a career is his interest in Maths. This topper aims to pursue BTech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay. Talking about his future plans, he said, “Post this, I am thinking of doing an MBA. I also want to go for research but I will decide that after BTech.”

According to Satvik, his coaching classes and the resources available at the institute have helped him improve his performance a lot. With the help of good fellow students and the teachers, a student can achieve everything he wants.

Besides studying, Satvik also has interest in sports. He shared, “I do 4 to 5 hours of self studies daily. Along with that I also play table tennis. After studying in the evening, I watch reality shows or movies in my laptop for recreation. Before coming to Kota, I was also fond of playing tennis and swimming, but discontinued during studies. I give priority to homework in Self-study. After this, I devote my time to revision. I study all topics of Maths, Physics, chemistry equally.

This 17 year old achieved All India Rank 15 in KVPY. In addition to this, he also achieved 99 points in NMTC and Rank 1 in RMO 2015.

JEE Advanced 2017 Topper Suraj Yadav

Suraj Yadav: JEE Advanced 2017 AIR 5

Success Mantra: One needs to work hard and practice regularly to have a thorough preparation of all the subjects.

Suraj Yadav from Haryana is one among the JEE Advanced 2017 toppers who bagged an All India Rank 5 in the exam. An alumnus of Suraj Senior Secondary School, he secured 94.4% in class 12th boards. Suraj’s dream is to pursue BTech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay.

The topper’s overall score in JEE Advanced 2017 is 330/360 and his subject wise score is 104 in Physics, 108 in Chemistry and 118 in Mathematics. These scores made him as one of top 5 toppers of the JEE Advanced 2017. His also bagged an AIR 23 in JEE Main 2017 and his score was 331/360.

Suraj’s father is a teacher in a government middle school and mother, a home maker. His elder sister is pursuing BTech in Computer Science from Delhi Technological University. The topper believes that his father is his ideal and an inspiration for him to achieve better in life. His parents supported him as pillars and share equal credits for his success as his teachers.

Sharing a few tips for future aspirant, Suraj says that studying with concentration is what will make a difference rather than the number of hours that you devote to self-study.

JEE Advanced 2017 was conducted on May 21, 2017. The exam was organised and conducted by IIT Madras.
