The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2021) committee has received 1,74,171 lakh applications for 1.4 lakh government quota engineering seats in the state. Experts attributed the increase in applications to factors such as 100 per cent pass recorded in CBSE and State Board Class 12 and low fees for government quota seats.

The Directorate Of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai, closed TNEA 2021 application form on August 24. The TNEA application process began on July 26 and candidates were given time till August 24 to register online. TNEA random numbers will be assigned on August 25 on the official website and the TNEA rank list will be released on September 4. TNEA 2021 counselling for special categories will be conducted from September 7 to September 11. An e-call letter that contains the date, time, and address of the TFC for original Certificate Verification will be generated and shall be made available in TNEA web portal. An e-mail and SMS will also be sent to the registered candidate.

A merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in maths, physics and chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (maths – 100, physics – 50 and chemistry – 50).
