What after GATE 2015
By Jimmy Bikram
Getting a good rank in GATE exam does not ensure you a seat in IITs except if you have done exceptionally well (within AIR 100!). Admission to IITs also include Interviews. Sometimes it also might happen that a candidate getting an AIR 250 in GATE exam is still not able to get a seat in IITs. So scoring a good rank in GATE exam is not sufficient. Though it plays an important role, but you will also need to pass hurdles like written tests and interviews.
You must know the difference between M.Tech and MS. Once you know about the difference you must apply to different institutes in a manner that ensures you get a seat in your desired college. I am giving you an outline that would help you to secure your seat in your desired college. But the final decision must depend upon you and your interests. * *1- 100 AIR*: Apply to IISc and IIT B. If you want to go towards hardcore research then go for IISc Bangalore. But if you just want jobs and a little easier M.Tech course (and not to forget vibrant lifestyle) go for IIT.

These are the things I would do and strongly recommend anyone going through the tough time. These are just not for the students who lost the hope but for someone who really want to focus and look ahead. I still do these and at the end of the day I sleep in peach. I share five basic things to set ourselves right here
Always keep in mind the following points:
- Aim and objective of GATE is to enter IIT/IISc, and not to called GATE Qualified.
- If point 1 is not achieved then try enter into some TOP ranked NIT of your stream.
- If point 2 is also not achieved then go for other NITs.
- If point 3 also not achieved then start preparing for next year.
Don't lose hope; this is not the end of your life. Live life like a fighter and take correct decisions for your life at right time.
