NCHMCT JEE 2018 Exam Pattern & Section-wise Difficulty Level
Most of the students felt that the hotel management entrance exam was a bit lengthy and found it difficult to attempt all the questions in the stipulated time duration. Talking about giving NCHMCT JEE exam Charul Gaur, a student of Vanasthali Public School said, “It was nice. The Numerical Ability section wasn’t that easy but everything else was fine. Logical Reasoning wasn’t that difficult nor that easy. But English was easy and Aptitude for Service Sector section was very easy”. The Service Sector section contained questions like; how would you help poor people or a person with special needs”. Confirming the same, a student of Carmel Convent, Sana Arora said, “All the sections of the exam were fine but I felt that the paper was a little lengthy. In terms of difficulty level all the sections were moderate not too difficult, not too easy”.
Even Vivekanand International Senior Secondary School’s Sakshi was not able to complete her paper on time. Talking about giving the exam she said, “The exam went good but was too long. I wasn’t able to complete it on time, it was too lengthy. The Numerical section was good, Aptitude section was also ok. Logical Reasoning section was a little difficult. Rest all the sections were good”.
Aman Kumar Meharwal of DAV School felt that the exam was pretty easy. “It wasn’t tough it was an average paper that could be solved easily”. Elaborating on the difficulty level of each section of NCHMCT JEE exam he said, “Numerical section was easy and it had questions from general Mathematics. Logical Reasoning was also pretty easy. In the Service Sector section some situations like problems in the society were given and we had to decide what we should do in that situation”. The marking scheme was exactly like mentioned in the admission brochure of National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology. As per Shreya Banerjee of Birla Vidya Niketan the exam was OK. “Maths as per me was pretty difficult and my friend also felt that it wasn’t easy, even she couldn’t attempt all the questions. English and Service Aptitude sections were easy. GK was a bit detailed but attempting it was not a problem. The Logical Reasoning section was a little difficult but I could attempt the questions asked”. She further shared that questions in the Logical Reasoning section were from Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Bar Graph etc. “The Service Sector section had questions that are normally in the books like what personality traits are required by people working at different job profiles in the hospitality sector. What will you do if a specific situation arises etc”, she added.
“It was nice but I had difficulty solving the Mathematics questions as they were tricky. Basically Maths questions were tricky but all the other sections were very easy”, shared Nitik Madan of Indraprastha International School. In the Numerical Ability section questions related to topics such as algebra, area of triangles & rectangles as well as investment principles were asked. He further shared that in the Aptitude for Service Sector section questions asked included, “If you are in the hospitality industry what would you do if you are interacting with guests. Another question was on how you would react if you see a person who has met with an accident, what would you do first, leave him or help him. Questions in the English section were similar to Class 12 English syllabus”. In the English section there were reading comprehensions. “Then there were some sentences and words which were underlined and we had to tell their opposites and meanings”. He further shared that there were 5-6 sections in NCHMCT JEE 2018 and each section was of 30 marks.
A student of Greenfield Public School, Yash Tyagi was quoted as saying, “Overall the exam was fine. The Numerical Ability section was tough. In this section questions asked were from topics such as percentage, LCM and HCF. The Logical Reasoning section was good. The English section was easy, questions were asked from Class 12 English syllabus. The Aptitude for Service Sector section had questions about hotel industry and their services”. Elaborating further he said that the test paper had 200 questions and each question was of one mark weightage. There were 4-6 sections in the exam.
Ishan Bhasin of Manasvali School shared that his paper went fine. “Section-wise I only felt that the General Knowledge section was difficult. There were 5 sections in the exam. Numerical Ability section mostly had questions from Time-Distance-Speed. Logical Reasoning had questions from all the topics equally. GK was very difficult. English section mainly had questions from unseen passages” he said.
Also appearing for AILET exam, a very confident student of NK Bagrodia Public School, Kunal shared, “I am not so fond of GK and my Quant is average, rest of the paper was good. The Numerical Ability section was difficult, in Quant section questions were mostly from Work-Study, ratios and mixtures. Logical Reasoning section was moderate to easy with respect to difficulty. Most of the difficult questions in this section were from number series. The English section was easy and questions in this section were mostly from passages, basic filling the blanks, mark the correct sentence etc. GK section was difficult for me I knew very few questions. The Service for Aptitude section was easy”. As per Kunal answering questions in the Aptitude for Service Sector section was tricky because it had questions like what quality do people working at different posts in the hotel industry need and he shared that “it was quite tricky to answer this because all the four options provided were correct and so it depended on our thought process”. Also, this is the only section in the exam that has graded marking.
