Hospitality courses at IGNOU

Extending its MoU, the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has collaborated with the Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) to offer three-year B.Sc and two-year MSc programmes.

The collaboration between NCHMCT and IGNOU dates back to the year 2002. Students under the initiative, pursue 5 theory subjects offered by IGNOU and 34 subjects taught through full-time institute laboratory and classroom learning in the various operational aspects of hospitality, to qualify for a three-year B.Sc degree conferred by IGNOU.

Program Details:

Bachelor of Science (Hospitality and Hotel Administration) (BHM): A three year long program, this professional programme aims to develop human resources for the Hotel Industry and Hospitality Services. The program is based on a collaborative model with courses from the distance learning system and those courses offered by the NCHMCT.

• Mode: Regular classes for learners at all the Institutes of Hotel Management
• Minimum Duration: 3 Years
• Maximum Duration: 6 Years
• Course Fee: Rs. 9,000
• Minimum Age: No bar
• Maximum Age: No bar

Eligibility:

10+2 or its equivalent

Besides this, all learners will have to complete courses worth 40 credits offered by IGNOU through the distance mode. Subsequently, for admissions to this programme, NCHMCT will conduct an entrance test at different Institutes of Hotel Management all over the country.

Master of Science (Hospitality Administration) (MHA):This unique program is designed to endow students with technical and professional expertise in the areas of managing the hotel and hospitality services. A two year long program, the program will be offered in regular mode at four designated institutes.

• Minimum Age: No bar
• Maximum Age: No bar

Eligibility:

B.Sc. Degree in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from NCHMCT and IGNOU; OR Bachelors Degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from AICTE approved Institutes affiliated with recognized Universities;  

Or

3-Year Diploma in Hotel Management from NCHMCT + Graduation in any stream;

Or

Faculty for Hospitality Management Institutes fulfilling any of the above qualifications with minimum two years of teaching/industry experience.

Admissions to the program will be through entrance test conducted by NCHMCT.

Initially, this program will be offered through the institutes of Hotel Management affiliated to NCHMCT at Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata with a total intake of 100 students every year.
