IRCTC offers skill training in hospitality!
To empower the booming Indian hospitality sector with skilled manpower, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation plans to conduct a training program for under-privileged youth from the weaker sections of society.
The scheme is named "Hunar Se Rozgar" which will target youth aged between 18-28 years with a minimum education up to Class 8 level. The trainees will also get a stipend along with uniform and study material. This programme aims at imparting quality hospitality education to candidates to meet the growing needs of skilled manpower in the hospitality sector.
The training programme is being conducted at the Indian Railway Customer Care Institute. It provides short term training in housekeeping, bakery and multi-skilled course in food production and food & beverage industry.
The ‘Hunar Se Rozgar' is aimed at enhancing the employability of candidates besides helping them develop the right attitude and a flair for hospitality. This is expected to raise the hospitality service standards in the country and have a favourable impact on tourism. (Read full story)
Under the proposed scheme, an eight-week course in food production and a six-week course in F&B services will be offered simultaneously at the training institute for a batch of 25 trainees. Trainees will get a stipend of Rs 1,500 for F&B course and Rs 2,000 for food production course.
