MAH CET 2014: Know exam structure for HMCT and MT-CET

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai, conducts Common Entrance Tests (CET) for admission to various courses across the state of Maharashtra. It conducts two undergraduate CETs: CET in Hotel Management & Catering Technology (HMCT) and CET in Pharmacy Degree (MT-CET). It also conducts CETs for MBA/MMA and MCA.

This year, all CETs will be conducted online or computer-based exam.

So far, complete details for HMCT and MT-CET have not yet been released. HMCT-CET will be held on May 18, 2014 while MT-CET will be held on April 20.

Details for MAH-HM-CET 2014 are yet to be released by DTE. Please visit here for more information.

However, based on previous year’s papers, online MAH-HM-CET test should comprise one question paper of maximum 100 marks to test the aptitude of the candidate for Hotel Management and Catering Technology degree course. The test is for 90 minutes. It has 100 multiple choice objective type questions based on Reasoning (Verbal as well as Arithmetic),English Language & General Awareness including questions on culture, current national, international affairs, trade & commerce, sports, scientific inventions and discoveries, travel/tourism etc. The question paper for the CET will be set in English only.

For MT-CET

The structure is based on 2013 paper pattern. Details for MT-CET are yet to be declared by DTE. Please visit here for more information.

In 2013, MT-CET consisted of three papers:

Paper I: Physics & Chemistry (50 marks each)
Paper II: Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 marks each)
Paper III: Mathematics (100 Marks)

Candidates have to appear for Paper I and Paper-II and/or Paper-III. The questions will be multiple choice types. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. Each paper will be for one and half hours.
