Candidates who have completed their Class 12 exams and want to make a career in the hospitality industry can consider joining the Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP). Oberoi STEP offers two programmes to aspirants which are, Kitchen Operations Programme and Hotel Operations Programme.

On successful completion of the course, aspirants are given – Bachelor of Tourism Studies (BTS) degree from IGNOU as well as a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Group.

Talking about the hospitality programmes offered at OCLD, the official website of STEP states that as part of the programmes, students are offered practical training at one of the hotels of Oberoi Group. Further it informs that students are “enrolled for a Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Studies (BTS) from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). We provide assistance in the form of a dedicated study day once a week, IGNOU fees, reference books and an additional three weeks leave to enable you to take the IGNOU exams. We also offer you a monthly stipend, accommodation, meals on duty, uniform and medical insurance”.

Oberoi STEP 2017: Selection Process

First of all aspirants need to meet Oberoi STEP eligibilty criteria. Further, the selection process for Oberoi STEP is such that candidates have to appear for an interview round. When aspirants appear for OCLD interviews they need to carry the below mentioned (self-attested) copies of documents:

• One print-out of the application form along with one passport-size photograph.
• One copy of the class X certificate. If the candidate's certificate does not mention their date of birth, one copy of their birth certificate will be required.
• One copy of their Class XII certificate.
• One copy of the Medical certificate. The candidate should be deemed medically fit by our company doctor.
• All the testimonials should be verified as authentic.

Oberoi STEP: Interview Round

Oberoi STEP interview questions are such that they test the personality of the candidate. The interview process for Oberoi STEP admissions is conducted as per the below mentioned rounds.

Round 1: In this interview round, aspirants are divided into groups of 15-20 candidates each. In this round, candidates have to perform many activities and attempt different questionnaires.

Oberoi STEP Selection Parameters: Here, the evaluator checks the candidates grooming, poise and spoken English.

Round 2: Candidates who are shortlisted in Round 1 of the Oberoi interviews are eligible to appear for Round 2 of the interview process. In this round, candidates have to appear before a panel comprising of faculty members wherein a one-on-one meeting is held.

Oberoi STEP Selection Parameters: Here, the evaluator tries to know the candidate better and also checks the aspirant’s aptitude for hospitality.

Round 3: Candidates who are shortlisted in Round 2 are further eligible to appear for the next interview round in the selection process for Oberoi STEP. In this round, candidates need to appear for another round of activities and attempt some questionnaires along with a final interview with a panel. However, this Oberoi interview round may be conducted on a different day as well as city as against Round 1 and Round 2.

Oberoi STEP Selection Parameters: Here, marks are given to candidates on their knowledge level, etiquettes and personality.

The results for Oberoi STEP interviews are sent to candidates by means of email or post.

On successful completion of STEP, candidates can join Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development (OCLD) or Oberoi Central Employment Register (OCER).
