The Oberoi Group offers Bachelor of Hotel Management courses under its institute, the Oberoi Centre of learning and Development which was established in 1966.  Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP) was initiated in 2004 by the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development. At present around 250 students are trained at 11 hotels from the Oberoi group.

1. Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP)

This is a 3-year programme that provides an opportunity for students to get trained at any one of the 11 hotels of the Oberoi Group. The core operational departments under which training is offered are Food and Beverages, Kitchen, Housekeeping and Front. Apart from practical training students are also enrolled at Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) course, Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Studies (BTS). Under STEP, two programmes are on offer, which are:

  • Hotel Operations Programme: Under this course training is offered under spheres such as housekeeping, front-office and foods and beverages.  
  • Kitchen Operations Programme: This offers training in India as well as Western kitchens. Training is also provided under operations of specialization such as cold kitchen, pastry and bakery.

As part of this programme, the company pays you a monthly stipend and also for your uniform and fees at IGNOU.

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Candidate must pass his 10+2 by July with an aggregate of 50 per cent. The candidate must clear his 10+2 from English medium and should be in the age group of 17-21 years.

Admission Process: The admission process is 3 tiered. Round one includes applicants being evaluated on their poise, grooming and command of English. In round 2, shortlisted candidates have a personal interview with a panel comprising senior faculty of the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development. Finally, the candidates shortlisted further are called for orientation and counselling.

2. Diploma in Hotel Management Catering Technology

As part of this programme students are trained in spheres such as front office, housekeeping and foods and beverages. Candidates are also eligible to continue in Sheffield Hallam University, UK for one year to get a BSc (Hons.) in International Hospitality Management.

Duration: 3 years

The eligibility and admission process is same as (BHM) and a diploma is awarded to students who wish to discontinue after the 3rd year of BHM.
