AICTE released list of approved colleges for 2016-2017

The list of approved colleges for the academic session 2016-17 has been released by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

As per the official notification released, AICTE has approved a total of 10,360 for the academic year 2016-2017. These colleges are known to have 6,99,421 faculty members and their collective intake capacity is 36,99,059.

The colleges approved by AICTE are spread across all states/cities of India. Out of all the states, Maharashtra has secured first spot in the list with 1,549 approved colleges followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,344 approved colleges and Uttar Pradesh with 1,130.

Sources share that around 291 new colleges have been added to the list of approved colleges whereas 100 colleges have been closed.

The approved colleges belong to the below mentioned streams:

  1. Applied Arts and Craft
  2. Architecture and Town Planning
  3. Engineering and Technology
  4. Hotel Management and Catering
  5. Management
  6. MCA
  7. Pharmacy

  • Approved Institutions with Non Resident Indian(s)(NRI) Quota
  • Approved Institutions with Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foriegn National (FN)/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries(CIWG) Quota
  • Approved Institutions with Foreign Collaboration/Twining Program
  • Approved Institutions with Progressive Closure of Courses
  • Approved Institutions with Progressive Closure

AICTE has undertaken this initiative in order to safeguard the future of students who take admission in higher education institutes/colleges after their schooling.
