Bihar Vigilance Unit conducts raids at Magadh University VC residence
The vigilance unit has registered FIR against officials of Patliputra University and VKSU.
The Special Vigilance Unit has started raids on Magadh University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Prasad's official residence and other places since morning. The Vigilance Unit has registered a case against officials at some other universities like Patliputra University and VKSU.
In a major action, the Special Vigilance Unit of Bihar has registered cases against Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Vice-Chancellor of Magadha University, Subodh Kumar, P.A.-Cum-Assistant, Magadha University, and some of the officials of Patliputra University, Patna and Veer Kunwar Singh University, Arrah.
Magadh University Vice-Chancellor had reached Gaya after a holiday late on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning at around 7 am, the monitoring team knocked on his residence.
The unit has also named two companies in its case, Poorva Graphics and Offset Printers, M/s XLICT Software Private Ltd from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
As per a statement issued by the vigilance unit, searches are being conducted today in the official/residential premises of accused Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Bodh-Gaya on the strength of search warrants issued by the Learned Special Judge Vigilance, Patna.
The officials from the other two universities named in the FIR are, Om Prakash, financial officer, BKSU, Arrah, and Jitendra Kumar, Registrar, Patliputra University, Patna and unknown others.
Raids are being conducted in connection with a case registered in February 2021. A complaint was made on behalf of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. In past also similar actions were taken against the former vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Arun Kumar.
