Career in Religious Studies

The study of religion is called religious studies. This discipline includes the study of different religions and tries to interpret the teaching and beliefs associated with them. Students who take up this subject are taught different approaches of understanding the concepts and theologies of the origin of a religion.

They are also made to learn techniques for deciphering hidden messages or meanings or inferences of any religious notion. This is multi-disciplinary in nature as it involves background reading from the field of history, anthropology, psychology classical civilizations, sociology, philosophy etc.

Job Prospects and Remuneration:
Various options are available to the candidates pursuing this field. Some of the jobs available are Preschool Teacher/Director, Director of Social Services, Community Program Manager, Religious Researcher, Missionary, Public Relations, Cultural Affairs Officer etc. The starting salary can be anything in between Rs.9,000 and Rs.15,000 and increases with experience and knowledge.
