DU admission process 2019 is underway. Check some important things that aspirants should keep in mind for DU admissions here.

University of Delhi has commenced with its admission process for undergraduate (UG) as well as postgraduate (PG) programmes offered at its colleges. Candidates can secure admission in most Delhi University (DU) colleges on the basis of merit but there are some courses in which admission is also offered to candidates on the basis of their performance in an entrance exam.

Aspirants are informed that through Delhi University Admission Process 2019, they are shortlisted to fill around 60,000 seats at around 90 DU colleges.

Students who aspire to join DU for admissions 2019 are advised to secure admission in their preferred course only. Every year many students make this mistake of opting for admission at a more popular DU college instead of the course which they truly want to pursue. Students should avoid making this mistake. SINGLE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

Candidates need to fill a single DU application form for admission in merit based as well as entrance based course admissions. Students can select multiple courses/ colleges in their DU application form. Another point that aspirants need to keep in mind is that like last year the application process for DU admissions is being conducted completely online. Candidates need to keep the below mentioned important dates in mind for DU admissions 2019.

Candidates are informed that they would be allowed to register for DU admissions 2019 only once. Aspirants are given the option to edit their application form, however, they can only make changes to the DU application form till the time they have not paid the fee and the registration session is open.

If any applicant submits false information or takes admission in two different courses or even in same course offered at different colleges, then the candidature of such a candidates would be cancelled from both the colleges/courses.

APPLICATION FEE

For DU admissions, candidates can apply for different courses offered at Delhi University colleges without paying for any extra application form. Students need pay the DU application fee online.

DU IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS

Along with the registration form for Delhi University admissions, candidates need to upload important documents and certificates. Some documents that aspirants need to upload along with their application form are photographs, signature, qualifying marks certificate, etc.

DU CUTOFFS

In majority of the UG courses offered at DU colleges, admissions are offered on the basis of merit. In order to secure admission in these courses aspirants need to meet Delhi University cutoffs. Authorities have shared that DU would be declaring five cutoffs for admissions 2019. Further Cut-offs / Spot Counselling schedule may be declared depending on vacancy of seats for admission.

DELHI UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAM

In order to shortlist aspirants for admission in few courses Delhi University entrance exam is conducted. Some UG courses for which DU conducts an entrance exam are – BA (Hons) Multimedia and Mass Communication, BA (Hons) Humanities and  Social Sciences, BSc Physical Education, Health Education and Sports Sciences, BTech (IT & Mathematical Innovations), BMS, BBA(FIA), BA (Hons) Business Economics and BElEd.

ECA & SPORTS QUOTA ADMISSIONS

Aspirants are provided with an option to apply for admission at DU colleges through ECA or sports quota. However, in order to apply for DU admissions through ECA quota candidates need to pay an additional application fee of Rs 100 and thereafter fulfill the ECA quota eligibility criteria. Similarly for DU admission process through Sports quota candidates need to pay an additional application fee of Rs 100 and thereafter take part in the sports trial.

MARKS ADVANTAGE

There are some courses and colleges wherein 1% marks advantage is given to girl students. There are also some DU colleges in which candidates who studied Modern Indian Languages (MIL) are given marks advantage ranging from 4% to 10%. Check the list of DU colleges offering marks advantage to girls.

SEPARATE ADMISSION PROCESS FOR JMC

The Delhi University college, Jesus and Mary College conduct its own admission process. In order to register for admission at these two colleges aspirants need to first fill the centralised DU admission form and thereafter fill the application form specific to these two colleges.

NCWEB ADMISSIONS

Female candidates can also apply for DU admissions through Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). Through NCWEB, female candidates are allowed to take exams at Delhi University with special coaching but in such a way that they do not need to attend regular classes.

OPEN DAYS

Delhi University conducts open days wherein aspirants are provided information related to application process, admission process and important dates. For admissions 2019, the open days were organised by DU from May 31 to June 3 and June 8, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Conference Centre, DU North Campus. DU open days were also held on June 4, 6, 7 and 10 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Kamala Nehru College, Rajdhani College, Ram Lal Anand College, Zakir Hussain Delhi College and Maharaja Agrasen College.
