DU Admissions 2014: Admission criteria for Jesus and Mary College

Candidates can apply for admissions at Jesus and Mary College (JMC) through the college’s online application forms only from June 2, 2014 onwards. Candidates can purchase and fill the online application forms on the official website of JMC.

Students who are interested in applying for admissions at JMC can fill only one form for admissions into JMC and can put in three subject preferences in it only.

Students applying under sports category shall be required to appear for sports trials along with all original documents/certificates as per the schedule fixed by the college. Minimum eligibility for appearing in trials is I/II or III position at the zonal level or I/II or III position at the State level.

DU Admissions 2014: Jesus and Mary College admission criteria

Candidates will be offered admissions into JMC on the basis of merit as well as aggregate marks scored by them in their Class XII. Here, by aggregate marks we mean – a candidate’s score in best-of-four subjects. However, English should definitely be one of the subjects included in the best-of-four percentage.

In case, a candidate has not studied three academic subjects then a disadvantage (minus) of 10% of the maximum marks may be levied on each of the non-academic subjects to be included for the calculation of best-of-four percentage.

JMC Department of Commerce Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the commerce department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • An advantage of 1% to be granted to candidates who have studied mathematics in Class XII.
  • Disadvantage (minus) of 2% from best-of-four percentage for students of Science and Humanities stream.
  • An additional weightage (plus) of 1% each will be given to students who have studied accounts/business studies/economics (for science and humanities stream) in the last qualifying examination.

JMC Department of Economics Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the economics department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • Should have studied mathematics as a subject in class XII
  • A disadvantage (minus) of 2% from best-of-four percentage if a candidate has not studied economics.

JMC Department of English Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the English department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • Must have scored a minimum of 90% in Core English or 92% in Functional English or 88% in Elective English.
  • Preference for the course is given to those students who have studied Elective English.

If a candidate has Core and Elective English then both may be counted in the best four subjects. In such cases the core score will be taken for the language requirement and the Elective marks will be considered as one of the other three subjects.

JMC Department of Hindi Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the Hindi department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • Must have studied Hindi and English (as compulsory subjects) upto Class XII.
  • Should have scored pass marks in English in Class XII
  • Minimum marks in Hindi 60% : Aggregate 55%

JMC Department of History Admissions

Candidates from all streams, that is, Science, Commerce and Humanities are eligible to apply for admissions in the History Department. However, advantage and disadvantage they will face are as follows:

  • Additional weightage of 2% will be given to the candidates from Humanities stream.

JMC Department of Mathematics Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the Mathematics department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • Should have scored a minimum of 80% in best-four-subjects including Maths.
  • Should have scored a minimum of 80% in Mathematics in class XII

JMC Department of Political Science Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the Political Science department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • A total of 2% aggregate deducted for candidates who have not studied Political Science in Class XII.

JMC Department of Psychology Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the Psychology department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • A total of 2% will be added to the aggregate percentage of a candidate who has studied Psychology in Class XII.

JMC Department of Sociology Admissions

Candidates applying for admissions in the Sociology department at JMC will witness an advantage or disadvantage on the following basis:

  • An additional 2% weightage will be added to a candidate’s aggregate who has studied Sociology in Class XII.
  • An additional weightage of 1% will be added for each of the following subjects – Economics, History, Political Science and Psychology – studied by a candidate in Class XII (if it is included in the best-of-four percentage).
