DU Admissions 2016: Fifth Cut-off Out, English & Economics Courses Still Available
Delhi University declared its fifth cut-off for DU admissions 2016 by late evening on July 19, 2016. Delhi University released all its previous cut-offs also an evening before the said dates.
The good news for aspirants is that popular courses such as BA (Hons) English is still available for admission at Lady Shri Ram College (96.25%) and BA (Hons) Economics is available at 97.25% cut-off at Shri Ram College of Commerce.
Also, BA (Hons) course in disciplines like English, Economics, Hindi and Political Science is available at Hindu College. Aspirants can also secure admission in BCom (Hons) at the college if their best -of-four percentage is 96.50%.
As per an official notification released by Delhi University (DU), the fifth cut-off is the last cut-off the varsity will be issuing for the academic sesson set to commence in 2016. As per admission dates shared by DU, classes for the coming academic session commenced on July 20, 2016.

Candidates who meet the percentage cut-off for DU colleges in the fifth cut-off 2016 need to complete their admission process/formalities latest by July 22, 2016.
After DU fifth cut-off respective colleges will be releasing the list of vacant seats and will then offer admission to aspirants via means of an online application and thereafter releasing a merit list.
DU Admissions 2016: Fourth Cut-off
Delhi University had released the fourth cut-off for admissions 2016 on July 14.
In DU fourth cut-off 2016, the drop in percentage across colleges and courses was between 0.25% to 2%.
However, a welcome relief for most aspirants came from the fact that seats in BCom course was still available for DU admission 2016 across popular colleges such as Ramjas, SRCC, Aurobindo College and the likes.

DU Admissions 2016: Third Cut-off
Delhi University released the third cut-off for DU admissions 2016 on July 10, 2016. For most of the courses on offer, DU third cut-off witnessed a dip of just 1% in the cut-offs.
Although the cut-offs were released on July 10, the admission process for candidates who met the cut-off mark commenced on July 11, as was shared by DU earlier.
The third cut-off at SRCC for popular courses such as BCom and BA (Hons) Economics closed at 97.25%.
The drop in cut-offs at Ramjas College for popular courses ranged from 0.75% to 1.25% only. At LSR college, the dip in percentage as part of third-cutoff was between 0.25% to 0.5%.

Aspirants had to complete their DU admission process as against the third cut-off latest by July 13, 2016.
DU Admissions 2016: Second Cut-off
Delhi University had released the second cut-off for DU admissions 2016 on July 4, 2016. Aspirants were informed that they could complete their DU admission process basis second cut-off on July 5, July 7 and July 8, 2016. However, due to Eid holiday being declared in the varsity on July 7, 2016, a fresh notification had been issued stating the change in the DU admission dates on the basis of second cut-off.
The rescheduled dates for document verification for DU admissions 2016 basis second cut-off for students belonging to all reservation categories apart from CW are as mentioned below:

As per the admission calendar, DU second cut-off list 2016 was to be declared around 9 am on July 5, 2016. However, the varsity declared the cut-off an evening before.
Earlier, Delhi University had released the first cut-off list for admissions 2016 an evening before from the expected date. The first cut-off released for DU admissions 2016 in top colleges/courses was very high, a trend which DU has been following since previous years.
But the second cut-off released by DU has witnessed a drop in percentage/marks in few popular courses. However, there is no sharp dip in percentages.
While this is true, many colleges have closed admissions for popular courses such as BCom and Economics Honours after DU first cut-off itself.
Sri Ram college of Commerce (SRCC) has dropped the cut-off for BCom and Economics courses only by 0.5%, that is, the second cut-off for these courses at the college is 97.5% and 97.75% respectively.
At Ramjas College, the second cut-off for BCom (Hons) course closed at 97.75% which has been reduced by 1.5% as compared to the last cut-off.

DU has also issued a notice informing aspirants that if they are eligible for admission as per DU first cut-off 2016 then they can make the online payment for admissions latest till 10 pm on July 5, 2016.
The official notification released by DU states: "With reference to the admission of Undergraduate students based on merit for the year 2016-17, it has been decided that candidates whose admission had been approved by the college authorities in the first cut-off list will be allowed to make the online payment till 10 pm on July 5, 2016".
DU has taken this step because aspirants were facing a lot of difficulty in making the online payment as the DU official website was running slow.
DU Admissions 2016: First Cut-off
Ramjas College had the highest cut-offs for almost all courses. The first cut-off for admissions in BCom Honours course at Ramjas College was 99.25%, for BCom was 98.75% and Economic Honours was 98.5%.
The DU cutoffs for admissions 2016 were high at Lady Sri Ram College too. The cut-off for admission in Psychology course was 98.50%, English course was 98.25%, Economics course was 98% and Commerce (Honours) courses was 98%.
At Hansraj College the cut-off for admission across streams remained unchanged. The cut-off for Economic Honours course at the college was 98%.
The cut-off for Economic Honours course and BCom Honours course at Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) was 98.25% And 98% respectively.
At Miranda College the DU first cut-off 2016 for science courses was the same as last year and the highest cut-off at the college was for admission in Economics Honours (97.75%)

The rising demand for off-campus college admissions has been attributed to the increase in the number of DU application forms. For the upcoming academic session, Delhi University received more than 2.5 lakh applications against about 54,000 seats on offer for UG admissions. Thus, the number of application forms received was almost five times higher than the total number of seats at DU.

Aspirants who make it to the successive cut-off lists for DU admissions 2016 will need to take part in document verification process. Also, aspirants, thereafter, would need to complete the entire admission process as per the alotted time duration.

DU will be releasing only five cut-offs this year. If there are any vacant seats in colleges after these cut-offs are released then the same will be notified on the DU website, the college website as well as notice board of the college.
