E-classes for distance students at Calicut University
Calicut University, the School of Distance Education (SDE), has decided to launch an e-learning system that will deliver content and broadcast classroom lessons to the students through multiple platforms.
This much appreciated move is expected to benefit around 1.5 lakh students pursuing courses from the varsity’s distance education.
The varsity hopes to commence this e- learning system lauded with latest technology by next academic session. A nodal centre will be created on the campus from where classrooms and other content will be broadcasted to students across the globe through appropriate e-learning platforms.
The SDE has 18 educational institutions in different states and few overseas centres at Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait and Bahrain. Currently, it is offering 13 traditional degrees and PG courses, and plans to start new diploma and degree programmes soon. SDE already has the green light from concerned authorities to offer eight new programmes including courses in media production, interior designing and multimedia communication.
