While speaking on the high-cutoff of DU this year, Professor Balram Pani, Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi, told Shiksha.com, "This year, many students scored above 100 per cent. As per the records, 49 per cent of students who got admission in the first cut-off list belonged to the Kerala state board as opposed to 13.6 per cent and 14.80 per cent from CBSE and ISC, respectively. We need to create a level playing field for all students. The entrance examination is the only solution for that and we will be conducting the CUCET next year, to give fair chance to everyone."
DU SOL Admissions 2021
Professor Pani further said, "However, students should not feel disheartened as the DU SOL Admission 2021 will begin soon and they have an option to perform well in the first year and if the seat is vacant in any college next year, they can apply for migration." Students must note that DU SOL Admissions 2021 are expected to begin next week. This year, the School of Open Learning, Delhi University will be offering five Under Graduate courses and five Post Graduate courses. Apart from this, students can also look for several other options available in the national capital like Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and the recently opened Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University. It must be noted that admission to these Universities is done on the basis of the marks obtained by the student in the entrance exam conducted by them and not only on the marks obtained in the Board examinations.
Harendra Kumar Singh, Associate professor, Political Science, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College Evening, Delhi University while speaking to Shiksha said that students should not feel disheartened and should apply for DU SOL and next year they can migrate to the desired course if they score well in the first year. Apart from that they can apply for evening colleges too, but should not lose hope."
