IGNOU invites applications for new academic session
The Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) has invited applications for various distance education programmes for the new academic session from July. New courses like diploma in water shed management, water harvesting, masters in gender and development studies have been started.
Starting this year, IGNOU may allow students to write certain exams in Marathi. The move will come as a relief to various rural students from Maharashtra who are not well versed in English. However, the syllabus and medium of teaching will continue to be English and Hindi.
A proposal seeking permission to allow students to write in Marathi for four subjects - sericulture, bee keeping, bachelor of preparatory programme and organic farming have been sent to the concerned authorities.
Meanwhile, IGNOU’s Pune centre has been allotted new permanent address near Balewadi.
